Another day, another win. Five straight wins for the Cubs and with the Baltimore loss, they now have the best record in the league.

Chad Bettis takes the mound for the Rockies and he is, well, not good decent. Regardless, I don't expect tomorrow's game to go very well for him.

Those damn Rockies pitchers and their home/road splits. Should have looked at his numbers a little closer. Just looked at his overall numbers last year without considering the team he played for. He had a nearly 5 ERA at home but a 3.35 ERA on the road.

His road ERA for 2016 is about to look very bad.

Bettis is actually pretty decent(3.85FIP,3.89xFIP), which is why I expect this to be the only game of the series the Cubs don't put up 7 or more.

Sooo, 6 then?

Not liking Hendricks's numbers against the Rockies hitters, but [insert some random phrase about dongs here, etc.]

Let the wrecking ball continue to wreck. Cubs win 12-3. Rizzo, Bryant, and Heyward all go deep. I've never had this much confidence in a Cubs team.

It worked yesterday so...

The Rockies were so scared of us destroying all their pitchers they signed Jerome Bettis to pitch?

Surprised to see Montero in there. To be honest, I'd almost prefer he not be in there since one of his biggest risks(injury/wearing down) is magnified with Schwarber not catching 30 games.

I was thinking about that this morning. I thought for sure Ross would catch today.

Also, odds on Baez getting an AB today 2:1.

I wonder if we will see Contreras come up for a few weeks once we get to about June/July to catch some games in order to keep Montero fresh? There's a stretch of 20 straight games from end of June into the first weekish of July, that wouldn't be a bad time to bring him to start maybe 5 of those games.

I'm sure Contreras will be up by September, but one of the problems is one of roster spots. All the players at the bottom of the roster need to pass through waivers to be sent down(Szczur, Ramirez, Richard, etc) so you risk losing that guy for good if you do it. There are worse fates than letting Szczur go, and injuries/performance might open a more obvious spot by summer, but at the moment I'm not comfortable being certain that tradeoff will work itself out.

I'd say perhaps they want to start Ross when Jake is pitching just because Jake gives us the best chance of winning with less offense but do you really start Ross two straight games throughout the season? Maybe it doesn't matter much.

Can someone post the lineup? Whatever site hosting the picture that was posted which I assume contains today's lineup is blocked for me at work. Thanks.

Didn't the Cubs clear a spot when the Marlins claimed Jokisch yesterday?
