LOL...Jeff Passan investigated Schwarber shouting "suck my dick" at the Cubs dugout after his first RBI.

Perhaps nothing in the postseason illustrated it better than Schwarber’s reaction after his first RBI, when he stared into the dugout while running to first base, turned the corner, then wheeled around and screamed a most-unpleasant – and unprintable – request of a teammate that involved an anatomically sensitive area.

“It was me,” catcher David Ross said. “And I loved every second of it.”

Ross, you see, is not just the lovable grandfather figure in the Cubs’ clubhouse, a 39-year-old hoping to ride into retirement with a ring. He is also a habitual line-stepper. After Game 1, he rode Schwarber hard. “One hit? That’s all?” he said. “Do something to help the team. Drive in a run or something.”

Schwarber did. And he made sure Ross and the entire Cubs’ dugout knew about it.

“I almost passed out laughing,” Ross said. “I love that guy. He is so tough mentally. He’s stayed with the team and been in every at-bat with us. That’s why he’s having success. He’s a natural-born hitter. But he has stayed engaged.”

How loud is Wrigley going to be when they hear this on Friday?

When we clinch on Sunday this needs to be played on repeat at Wrigley for a week straight.

Who has the advantage in games 3-5 if Schwarber doesn't get medical clearance? Cleveland loses their DH and having their pitchers bat is more disruptive to their lineup and game plan. Does that offset the drop off from Schwarber to whomever else will play RF?

Hopefully this turns into a moot point but I can't help but feel like the Cubs will still be ok if Schwarber is just a PH in these last 3 games.

I know I shouldn't read comments about the Cubs at other places (guess that makes me like a republican and this place my Fox news) - but man the number of "the Cubs are only doing this to boost his trade value" and "I can't wait to see him DH for the Yankees next year" comments I see other places just piss me off for some reason.

If he was going to be traded to the Yankees, that would've happened already. Scharber isn't going anywhere but straight to the top of every offensive leaderboard in the National League for years to come.

And maybe to the World Series MVP. :good:

Eh, we've all drooled over other teams players too. Hell, one particular individual is drooling over trading for Mike Trout while we're playing in the World Series. It's a good thing when fans of other teams want your players.

I guess the only annoying thing is people assuming that Schwarber has no future on this team and will HAVE to be traded sometime soon. I don't think anything like that is in play. Theo and Jed want him on this team, and I actually have full confidence he can play a manageable (perhaps slightly under average) left field.

He's on this team for the forseeable future.

The whole Passan article was great but this quote is worth singling out:

“He’s going to be the leader of this clubhouse and the leader of this team,” Cubs catcher Miguel Montero said. “Because his personality, his demeanor, just the way he handles himself in the clubhouse. With all due respect to Rizzo and KB and whoever is on the team, I think he’s going to be the leader of this club. Simple as that.”

boy the battle for biggest career drop off among formerly great baseball writers is intense, but neyer is right up there. I read most of his stuff on espn multiple times in the 90s and never missed a chat. he was awesome. but man he is certifiably terrible now.

Disagree. I think that's gonna be Willson.

Good news! His doctor has cleared him to play the field.

I'm positive Trump's doctor would clear Kyle.

If allowed to play defense, Kyle, I can state unequivocally, will be the best individual to ever play defense in a World Series.

No way of really answering it and that's possible. Just opinion and projection but Passan also tweeted this:

"This badass future hall of famer is going to be our clubhouse leader!"

"No, THIS awesome guy who hit .400 his first postseason is!"

First world problems, huh?

I mean, there's a lot of forms of leadership obviously. And I'm sure guy's like Rizzo keep the clubhouse loose and fun, which is huge for this team. But he's maybe not the guy you see standing up in the room and giving a no nonsense, let's bear down and kick some ass kind of speech when it's needed. Kyle is definitely that guy.

And earning Ross's respect by yelling "suck my dick" at him after getting an RBI in the World Series probably earned him a bunch of cred in the clubhouse too.
