I want to see wire-to-wire.

So I'm rewatching last night's game, and the ESPN announcers asked what the over/under is on 20 run games for the Cubs this year. The other announcer answered that he thought they'd do it once. What would you set it at? Would you take the over at 2.5? I'd definitely take the over at 1.5.

I'm taking the under on 0.5

i want to say 0.5 and my inclination is to say under, but this lineup on one of those wind blowing out days against, say, the reds or brewers staff? who the horsefeathers knows.

Over. I say we do it 3 times. Rizzo, Bryant, Heyward & Schwarbombs were combined 1-7 with RISP. Give those guys a few more hits and we hang 10+ with Richards going 5.

Also - don't underestimate us at 162-0...I like 173-0. Don't forget the postseason. 1 down, 172 more to go.

I've been listening to the score a lot the past few days while driving, they have talked about the white sox just as much as the Cubs. Which is weird for "the Cubs official station."

they're an all chicago sports station first. i didn't expect them to go all WCUB. the sox are another team in town just like the hawks, bulls, and bears.

hell, they're going to talk about the bears a lot more than the cubs. and that's not really a problem. wgn would be talking about current events or something right now, not the cubs.

And there's a lot of Sox fans hosting the shows, so it's natural they'd be talked about....especially at the beginning of the season.

It's not like they can talk Cubs all day long.

Yeah I don't have a problem at all with them having equal Sox talk. In fact I prefer it so I don't have to hear White Sox fans bitch about a Cub media bias.

One thing that I hated though was when the Sox were on the Score they had a Saturday "White Sox Weekly" show, and the only reason that bothered me was because I couldn't just flip to ESPN 1000 because they had national programming and were probably talking about SEC football or something. Will the Cubs have a "Cubs Weekly" show now?

Sucks that soccer10k will have to wait until next year

What's beautiful about the Cubs offense is that they allow pitchers to chose their own method of execution. Pitch to us and your death by dongs will be swift and instantaneous. Avoid us and we will gouge you with a thousand paper cuts.

Agreed. I haven't felt this way about a sports team since the '05 Illini - that feeling that you're going to win, by some method, every game because that's just what's gonna happen! Obviously, that's not realistic in baseball, but the swagger this team plays with makes following them truly awesome.

I'm so happy baseball is back. And I am so thrilled that we have this team. Last night was just fantastic. This sentiment has been mentioned a lot already, but we won 9-0 last night and I don't think we played particularly well. Montero donged, but we didn't really hit for much power, nor did we hit very many balls exceptionally hard. We had a base running blunder; there was a possible DP turn that went a little funky; Fowler just missed a ball that a lot of center fielders might be able to track down; we struck out a lot; Arrieta was missing his spots some early and his stuff didn't look very crisp early on. Now, things aren't ever going to be perfect in baseball. And, granted, there was a lot that went right: Russell made a really nice play up the middle; Montero had the aforementioned dong; Fowler ceaselessly reached base; Soler ripped a ball that even Simmons couldn't stop; Jake ascended back to god-mode Arrieta from about the third inning on. Oh and we saw 188 pitches and drew 7 walks. And we scored 9 runs in a game in which the opposing starter was throwing 98-mph sinkers, and all of his stuff had nasty movement. And a bunch of ancillary characters chipped in with some major production. So, yeah, maybe it was just that the players I expect to dominant opposing teams were quiet, while everyone else kicked ass. And Arrieta has just spoiled me and I can't appreciate his brilliance enough anymore.

But, really, it was a pretty ho-hum 9-0 shutout. And that is horsefeathering scary. We are going to be a nightmare for opponents, and this year is going to be so fun.
