  1. Agreed. I haven't felt this way about a sports team since the '05 Illini - that feeling that you're going to win, by some method, every game because that's just what's gonna happen! Obviously, that's not realistic in baseball, but the swagger this team plays with makes following them truly awesome.
  2. If our frontcourt wasn't dead, we might have won some games this year. Agreed ... I actually think we'd be pretty damn good healthy!
  3. It would be huge to edge out Michigan today at home. Hopefully enough folks show up to make it a decent atmosphere...
  4. If Illinois misses the Tourney this year (can't imagine they make it), that'll be the first three-year drought since the 1970s ... That is so depressing.
  5. This is how I feel, too. :( He was straight on fire at times this year, and he was likable. Good luck, Starlin!
  6. Not that I'm 100% behind Groce, but I can't help but wonder where we'd be right now with a healthy team all year. Not crazy to think we'd have one loss. I really hope this isn't the excuse all year, which in turn gives Groce a free pass for another year. No thanks. I highly doubt it will be, and it shouldn't be. Groce should have made three straight Tournaments here so far with a B1G level PG in the fold; if he'd done all that, he'd get a complete pass for this year ... As of now, he's gotta find a way, or he's in trouble.
  7. Not that I'm 100% behind Groce, but I can't help but wonder where we'd be right now with a healthy team all year. Not crazy to think we'd have one loss.
  8. JCL is going to be a star, and I frickin' love Finke! Other than that ... Yikes. Can't get Nunn back soon enough.
  9. Cool it. Anyway, if there was anything good about Thomas, it's how different he tried to be than Guenther (a colossal failure). I really hope we try to break the bank on this and the football hire. Potential is extremely high at U of I, but we've had inept leadership for 20 years.
  10. Watching this with my dad, I almost cried tears of joy. Oh GOD, that was awesome! GO CUBS GO! :flythew:
  11. God, I am so pumped for today. I obviously prefer a Cubs win (especially a clinching one) to be at Wrigley with "Go Cubs Go" blaring ... but is there anything sweeter than beating the Cardinals in St. Louis and watching all those stunned red shirts sit there in disbelief? \:D/ Let's go get win 1 out of 11 tonight.
  12. You're a smart guy David. You know this has zero to do with who's the better team/matchup, and everything to do with media markets. And I understand that the Cubs in the playoffs trump that. Even for ratings, it would be a bad decision, which is precisely why I'll shocked and disgusted. something tells me they know more about this than you do We'll have to wait until that time comes, but I bet you anything Cubs/Cards would DEMOLISH Mets/Dodgers in ratings.
  13. I know, what the hell? I don't have ESPNU either, so I guess I'm heading to the bars! God, that'd be awesome if UI beat Iowa in Iowa City. Not counting on it, though.
  14. Long time reader (and obviously lifelong Cubs fan), first time poster ... Was trying not to have a username on any Cubs message boards so it wouldn't consume my life, but after last night I had to break down and join. I'm so pumped for this series. I remember in 2003 ESPN about didn't cover our series with the Marlins because they were so busy drooling over the Yankees and the Red Sox (an epicly overrated rivalry that I flat out do not give a sh*t about). I'm so glad our best rivalry is finally going to get a spotlight in the Playoffs. And, as others have said: this isn't June. We are seriously a better baseball team than the St. Louis Cardinals, and I think our guys know it. I say bring it.
