Sucks that it's supposed to be 79 today and 81 tomorrow but then Friday it's only 68/48 and Saturday 64/50. Guess Soler isn't making the roster after all

Hope this helps those of you who don't get MLB Network:

I know you are just the messenger...but how do I make my roku show the Cubs moving around on my television screen?

Have we answered this very important question yet?

Ryne Sandberg is in Naperville doing some meet & greets with Clark, according to the Cubs Snapchat.

Man it must suck to go from throwing a fit about not being offered the managerial job to wearing a pantsless bear costume at car dealerships.

Just goes to show how important it is to be nice.

Forgive me for posting this here, but I need to get it out and I only want strangers to think I'm weird rather than people who know me.

I don't know if it's in my DNA to be like this, but I find as the playoffs are about to start that I'm not excited, but instead filled with anxiety. I don't believe in curses and I don't believe the Cubs are destined to never win. I believe we have as good a shot as any team to win it all.

But because I know there is a 75 percent chance of not winning, I'm more stressed than anything. I don't want to wait another year for a potential shot. I just want to know what it's like to win the World Series and never have to put up with the 1908 talk or have fans of other teams or friends be able to say anything ever again and not sound like sour grapes.

I get jealous when I see a team like the Giants have so many World Series championships in just the past decade when I just would want one. I'm not saying that if we win I won't want to win again and again, but I really do feel like the anxiety would no longer be there anymore.

I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie...I wish I didn't know the whole playoff crapshoot thing. Would be a much better feeling. That said, it's good knowing that we have a better shot than any one team. Just sucks knowing the way people will judge this historically good team if we don't beat the odds and the field.

That said, I'm way more excited than I am worried about any of that.

I actually didn't realize the crapshoot thing before last season, and I'm not sure why I didn't. I wish I still didn't know.

Everything else you said I also agree with. I wish I was more excited than worried, but it's on me to change that mindset.

I've said a lot already this week that this is when Cubs baseball turns from fun to nerve-wracking.

I'm anxious as horsefeathers.

Do I watch game 1 at the Cubs bar here in Denver - awesome atmosphere (Wyman's) or alone in my house with my lonely anxiety?

I'm cool with it because I'm gonna live forever.

They need to hurry up with that cure for aging I keep hearing is just around the corner.

I'm more excited than anxious, but if we lose a game I fear I will do a quick 180. That said, I was confident the Cubs had a chance to rally back against the Mets right up until the first inning of Game 4 happened, so maybe I will be more optimistic again this year.

I think knowing its a crapshoot actually gives me less anxiety. If we lose, it's not because we choked or because we proved we weren't really the best team, its because we played the weighted crapshoot and lost. Also, I know you can't do the whole "we're set up for years so we can just try again next year" thing but.....well we're set up for years so we can just try again next year.

I'm all for laughing at the Cardinals but this is the lamest attempt at a gotcha ever

Especially since Piscotty had a 2.7 fWAR

Yeah, especially when his AB/playing time was replaced by some combination of Piscotty (2.7 fWAR) and Grichuk (2.0 fWAR)

Taking Lackey away hurt far more, especially after Garcia and Wacha unraveled and Wainwright turned BORP.

Probably, but their defense was atrocious. Having Heyward in either RF or CF would have had a little bit of a trickle down effect and at least made their defense a positive out there if they went Grichuck/Heyward/Piscotty most of the year and also kept Wong in the infield where he was one of their better defenders at 2B/3B. Maybe that improved defense is enough to give their pitchers a little bit of a BABIP bump that they perform a little better.

True, plus if we believe the addition of toe tapping to Heyward's swing was a big part of his struggles this year, they are probably looking at a more productive Heyward at the plate this year.

I didn't even read/hear about the toe tapping thing. Is that a legit reason to why he struggled?

We know they were trying to do things with his front leg/foot load all year. Whether you want to believe that was the only reason or one of the reasons is pretty hard to nail down. Maybe it's just that, maybe it's a combination of that, the wrist injury, timing being off, hand placement, etc.

The Cubs attempts to get more out of him at the plate have been blamed for his struggles this year, yes. Last year, there was a similar storyline but the Cardinals abandoned their efforts much sooner.
