Miggy is shifting gears from enthusiastic cheerleader to emotional heartstrings puller

I get enough of that [expletive] on facebook.

I feel bad about this now. At work the picture didn't load, just saw the text of the tweet. That's pretty damn adorable.

Haha. I thought that was a really weird and random rant to complain about some guy spending time with his little girl. This makes much more sense.

nice (ricketts lol)

a co-worker asked me if he could unload some Cubs tickets on me, and they just so happened to be on my birthday. It'll be the first game i'll get to see this year. :D :D

Is there a place where we are talking about Fowler returning tonight?

Yes. The thread in this forum has been changed to "Dexter Fowler allows you to clap for him".

Dan Haren talks about getting traded to the Cubs last year.

Dan Haren, retired pitcher: “I’ve been traded both in the offseason and at the trade deadline. Obviously, being traded at the deadline is much more difficult, especially with family. Last year, I found out while driving to the field in Miami. My wife and kids where there for the summer, so they had to fly home to California immediately. The Cubs were in Milwaukee, so there’s just no way they were going there and then dealing with finding a hotel with all the suitcases, etc.

“But for me, it was always exciting joining a new team in a trade because you know that team wants your services and values you. That said, the pressure to perform once you are traded, especially to a contender like last year, is pretty intense. Making a good first impression was always vital for me. Last year I struggled almost all of August after pitching really well from April to July, so it was tough. Part of me wasn’t surprised because I knew my peripheral numbers didn’t add up to my ERA. My FIP was higher and I was striking out fewer batters than ever and moving to a hitters’ ballpark. That was scary.

“Luckily, I turned it around and contributed in September and ended up feeling like I was ‘part of the team’ by the time the playoffs rolled around.”

I have this picture of Haren pitching a good game and then getting angry after checking FanGraphs the next morning to see that the gap between his ERA and FIP got higher.

Watching a video of Addison's grand dong a couple nights ago. I've noticed how he kind of has the "anti-bat-flip" thing where he immediately drops the bat after contact. And as much as I love a good bat flip this is also cool as [expletive] in its own right.

CarGo does the same thing, except it's suave as horsefeathers

pretty much. if his bat drop evolves into CarGo's then I'll be pleased.

Skipping Hendricks start??

The other beat writers are making it sound more like a (temporary?) addition of a 6th starter, so more rest for everyone instead of skipping one guy.

Brett was just talking about this on Twitter, and it basically boils down to Edwards v. Grimm a lot like TLS v. Coghlan. That is if there isn't a move before the deadline that makes the choice more clear.

As long as this is just a one start thing, I'm fine with it because it means I'll swap out a Hammel start for an Arrieta start next weekend in Oakland (seeing Hendricks either way).

I was more agreeable to a 6th starter when we were up 15 games or whatever. Starting one against Felix Hernandez doesn't seem like a very good way to win the rubber game of a series but hopefully it works out.

Not to mention it ensures no Lester/Jake in the Marlins series where they throw their 2 top starters and probably Cashner in the other

The Houston Chronicle endorsed Clinton. Granted, they endorsed Obama in 2008. but before that the only Democrat they've ever endorsed was LBJ in 1964. What a weird election.

I'm in Chicago now and saw today's horsefeathers show, and I'm not too thrilled about now trading out Hendricks for Matusz tomorrow. Oh well

go cobs!

It officially took me this long to figure out this was the wrong thread and wondering what the horsefeathers you and Andy were talking about.

Yeah, who cares about starters wearing out in the playoffs like Arrieta last year?
