The #Cubs have scored 412 runs this season. 87 of them (21.1%) have come against the #Reds (10 games). FYI @LenKasper, @lenandjd #CubsTalk

Bryan Price is an idiot. Maddon was supposed to just send Kyle up to meekly make an out? Has he noticed we have had bullpen issues and need insurance runs?

I'll cut him a break, he had to use relievers for 19 innings in this series. Given his bullpen management abilities, that's like asking me to breathe underwater for 9 hours.

I was referring to his comments where he was b*itching about Kyle's bunt. Hence the KB beaning. It was a stupid reason to order a beaning

Oh I know, I'm just saying that I'd be grouchy and irrational too if I was forced to sleep in a bed made of spiders for 3 days, which is pretty much the same thing as asking Bryan Price to use relievers that much.

Looks like one more game at AAA for Seal Boy and I'm guessing he will be activated tomorrow (Friday). Guessing Patton since the Cubs have 13 pitchers currently

That makes sense.

I still wonder what happens when Fowler and Soler are ready. I have a feeling Coghlan isn't long for this team.

Yeah Coghlan getting released is likely a probable thing, maybe Montero to the DL for a bit. They could really take their time with Soler though and let him play in AAA for a few weeks once he's completely healthy. So it could just be needing to make room for Fowler immediately.

it's nice to think about our likely lineup next year, and how there'll be elite (probable top-3-in-NL) attributes at every single spot

elite hitting:

Contreras/Schwarber(?), Rizzo, Zobrist, Bryant, Schwarber

elite fielding:

Rizzo, Russell, Bryant/Baez, Almora, Heyward

I wonder if given how bad he's been this year and the fact that his defense is a huge negative and can't hit lefties, they could DFA him and assuming he's not claimed, can convince him to hang out in Iowa for awhile.

I really wouldn't mind having Coghlan around because he's come back and looked really good and has had a nice OBP and walk rate with good contact

Are we expecting Almora to stay through the end of the season?

I honestly could just as easily see him staying all year as I could seeing him sent down. He definitely has value as a defender and hasn't at all hurt the team with his bat so far.

But there are only 25 spots so unless you DFA Montero or Szczur or include Javy in a trade or something your bench is locked with Miggy, Ross, Javy, Soler/LaStella, Szczur when everyone is healthy
