his lady friend likes to tweet out pictures of herself with the gals and a glass of wine in hand, and we know Rizzo is a total boozehound (not to mention Theo and Jed) so its not a social circle thing.

I just wonder what the reason is. Is it an "I don't want to poison my body" type situation? Or maybe a history of alcoholism in his family that makes him overly cautious? I mean, I don't drink much...but it's mostly a taste aversion...and I certainly can't say I've never had a drink...

probably an "i was raised by an earl woods type weirdo sports dad" thing

Mr. Marinovich

That was my first thought but I couldn't remember his damn name.

Mr. Marinovich

That was my first thought but I couldn't remember his damn name.

He has never eaten a Big Mac or an Oreo or a Ding Dong. When he went to birthday parties as a kid, he would take his own cake and ice cream to avoid sugar and refined white flour. He would eat homemade catsup, prepared with honey. He did consume beef but not the kind injected with hormones. He ate only unprocessed dairy products. He teethed on frozen kidney and liver. When Todd was one month old, Marv was already working on his son's physical conditioning. He stretched his hamstrings. Pushups were next. Marv invented a game in which Todd would try to lift a medicine ball onto a kitchen counter. Marv also put him on a balance beam. Both activities grew easier when Todd learned to walk. There was a football in Todd's crib from day one. "Not a real NFL ball," says Marv. "That would be sick; it was a stuffed ball."

If we didn't already have a Bryant thread would it be called "Kris Bryant: Also a Creepy Weirdo?"

That's actually kind of lame.

But somehow still awesome because its Kris Bryant.

I don't know how applicable it is to Bryant, but as someone who also has never drank, it's a combination of things. Upbringing(my parents didn't drink at all), picky tastes(I don't try a lot of new food/drink regardless), personal conservatism/willpower(I have a hard enough time not eating all the Oreos the same day I open the package, no need to risk that portion control with alcohol), and social circles(my friends either don't drink or do so rarely).

its because his dad is a huge weirdo and probably stigmatized it like YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE KRIS, IM TRYING TO RETIRE ONE DAY DONT BLOW THIS FOR ME

They should be working Red Bull plugs into all questions about him drinking alcohol, I thought the Boras machine had him trained as a better spokesman than that.

LOL... love after all that he says it wasn't a real NFL ball cause THAT would be sick....

Got a literal laugh out loud at the office when I read that.

I mean, they have to be; this is getting into Mormon freak-territory.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Yes, Kris is Mormon. I know a guy who was on his traveling teams in high school and he told me that last year. Said he is incredibly nice as well.

Private Bryce, by all accounts, is respectful of baseball history, family-oriented and dedicated to his Mormon faith.

Q: I see there's a cross around your neck, below your shirt. Is religion a big part of who you are?

A: It's not the biggest part of my life. I'm always playing baseball. But it's certainly a part of it, and having a faith in something. I've always worn a cross, and it's been a part of my game. It's always there with me.

Mormons don't wear crosses as far as I know.

Even Mormons drink. A lot in fact

Literally (and I mean literally in this case) none of the 15-20 mormons I know drink any alcohol or caffeine at all. So, take that SSS as comprehensive evidence that no mormon has ever had any booze touch their lips.

My bff in hs (he was Mormon) used to get tanked and stoned almost every night. When my sister lived in Utah (we were Catholic) all her Mormon neighbors put their empty bottles in her trash

Had a mormon friend in college, big time drinker and stoner. Also came from a small town in Alabama where he had a girlfriend of 5 years until he did some family lineage searching and realize it was his 2nd cousin, which defies logic given the circumstances. [insert State slogan here]

Not everyone is gonna follow the faith to a T.
