I think it can be assumed that Russell is to blame for Rizzo's earlier struggles, as he was plagued with guilt and doubt about his teammates infidelity while contemplating his own proposal.

 

 

 

You know he and Bryant have had to spend hours on end explaining to their ladies that, "nah honey, that's just him, he's the only one that I know of, we aren't all doing that."

And Schwarbs probably played the shoulder to cry on which led to slipping the tip in and telling her she needs to leave Addi. They've had this animosity brewing, the core players have known about it but have tried to play through it. Now the cat's out of the bag and everyone is relieved. Hell, just coincedence that Kyle broke out with his best game after her post was published?

 

(I don't believe any of this. Just having fun explaining the reason for so much shitty this season)

Unless there's more to this that I don't know, David is probably just referring to the pictures that have occasionally made the rounds showing Rizzo partying with large amounts of attractive women.

 

For whatever it's worth, it's been a while since I've seen one of those photos and we don't know how long he's been with his fiancee, although we can safely assume it was at least a little while before the World Series, since he felt the need to bring up that she was in bed with him the night before Game 7 in his Players Tribune piece.

Do they "suspend" him until the investigation is completed? I've had that feeling they will.

Yeah, what goony said... and from word of mouth il just say that before DV allegations came into the picture, I saw Rizzo and addy as similarly brotastic partiers/womanizers. Which is totally fine imo if you're not married.

I thought Rizzo in Midnight Cowboy was the obvious way to go, but good enough for me!

Honest question: what is the investigation going to be? His wife clearly didn't want to make a public accusation that he hit her -- are they just going to DM the friend?

 

Yeah no clue what MLB's authority is here, can they just call up his wife. Would they even have that contact info, do they have the authority to ask for it and receive it?

I'm not sure how far MLB's investigating can go, especially if there is not police report or accusation from the victim herself. They might reach out to her or her attorney and see if she is willing to make a statement about the allegations, but otherwise I don't see what they can do.

 

The MLB has suspended players for DV without any formal police charges - Chapman's charges were dropped and he was still suspended - but I'm not sure an instagram comment from a friend of the alleged victim is enough to do anything.

This is the frustrating part to me, that there's basically nothing on that front from his wife or something like a police report. While I'm hoping that the truth is that friend misinterpreted some past conversation or something like that, I don't want to minimize a potentially very bad situation and one that is underreported and underpunished. At what point is an instagram comment from someone not in the relationship damning evidence, and at one point is saying it's not enabling the larger problem?
