He meant that all of their starters are equally mediocre that any one of the 5 could be their No 1.

It is pretty impressive that all 5 of their starters have ERA’s between 4.34 and 4.93.

Well so much for that. Wacha up to 5.80.

I don’t think he ever recovered from that 2015 playoff series. A big difference in his career stats before and after that series.

As much as I'd enjoy that being the case, his best year came in 2017. He's been pretty worthless since then though.

They haven’t won a series since going 3-1 against Washington April 29-May 2.

Yeah they've been awful for a while. Makes me a little wary of this series.

Friday and Saturday are night games so I'm guessing it'll be a lively atmosphere as far as Cardinals games go (BORING). Also the cup final in town.....

A lotta Cards on the wrong side of 30 - Fowler, Molina, Carpenter, Goldschmitt, Mikolas, Miller - with significant financial commitments. They could get old/bad real fast.

They still won’t trade Yadi for Mike Trout. Also, Harrison Bader is the next Trout, so they don’t need the actual Trout.

The Cardinals will be doomed to win 80-83 games a season, never make the playoffs, and never get impact prospects on their current path. They have to either have an off-season like the Phillies just had or start tanking. There are no good free agents until Bryant walks I guess, and I don’t think they will ever be allowed to have a 60-win season.

Pitching wise, Martinez and Reyes have set them back big time. Flaherty is learning/growing but not the #1 type just yet.

Wacha is only 27 and has fallen apart. Mikolas might be a one-year wonder.

They've gotten absolutely nothing in trade for various young cost-controlled position players that were once thought to be a part of their core - Grichuk, Pham, Piscotty, Diaz. And so had to trade Alcantara and Weaver for Ozuna and Goldschmidt.

Their extensions have been absolute nightmares so far. 36 year old Molina is making $20M this year and $20M in 2020 while putting up an 82 wRC+. 33 year old Matt Carpenter is due $18.5M in 2020 and another $18.5M in 2021 with a 2022 option of $18.5M while providing a 97 wRC+ so far this year. 33 year old Dexter Fowler is due $14.5M this year and again in 2020 and 2021 putting up a wRC+ of 106. 30 year old Mikolas is due $15.75M each year from now through 2023 and putting up a 4.74FIP/4.40SIERA.

31 year old Goldschmidt(5/130 extension starting next year) is also on pace for a career-worst season, about 3 fWAR and a sub .350 wOBA.

They could very easily go the way of the Giants.

In perhaps one of the more baffling promotions I've seen in a while, the Cardinals have decided to promote 20 year old Nolan Gorman from A to A+. Gorman hasn't exactly torn up A ball, posting a .199/.323/.348 line since May 1st, a span of 192PAs. He's also striking out 29.2% of the time.

Andrew Miller looks extremely washed up too.

It's almost like pitching 2-3 innings on back to back days eventually catches up with you.

They replaced the bad OF who wasn't hitting with a good OF posting .349/.435/.547/.982 in 80 game between double and triple-a

What about activating the bad hitting catcher?
