See this is the topic you want to bring up if you want to needle the Cardinals about missing the playoffs. Their shortstops were -15 UZR this year, Diaz specifically at a -11 pace. Put a major league shortstop on the field and maybe they make the playoffs.

Yeah it probably will be announced during the offseason and not during the playoffs. I think they're still trying to figure out what the right punishment should be.

 

Just speculation on my part, but I believe Manfred can't just take a draft pick away from the cardinals w/o getting approval from the player's union. Maybe with the new CBA they'll discuss new penalties for cheating and unethical conduct by MLB teams (cardinals, Padres) and after the new CBA is ratified they'll punish the cardinals. I imagine it will involve monetary fines and hopefully the loss of a draft pick.

 

The ideal time for it to be announced isn't soon btw...it's announcing it right after the Cubs win the WS or maybe a day after the parade lol

Players Union won't care about them losing a draft pick. That won't affect the current members.

Remember that the Cardinals may have lost their game against the Marlins on July 31 because they hit Stanton in retaliation for Diaz getting hit earlier in the inning. I bet they would like to have that W.

I moved down to about an hour away from STL this spring, and one of the worst things is that the only sports radio I can get to come in talks Cardinals all the time. During the season it wasn't so bad because I got to hear them complain about how much the Cards sucked. However, it has come up a few times since the Cubs traded for Chapman, and again today as I listened, about how he choked his gf and fired shots in the house. Now, I know the guy is pretty much scum of the earth, and I have no problem with the average person calling him out for that. But what really gets me is that this comes from fans of a team that WORE A PATCH FOR A YEAR TO HONOR A GUY WHO LITERALLY KILLED HIS GF AND HIS OWN DRUNK SELF! Not to mention their worship for LaRussa.

I adore the fact they think they're a threat to us going forward. Bringing up Lance Lynn as a difference maker? Just gives me joy.

 

Seriously, compare rosters and systems.....They're more in danger of finishing last, than they are first.

My favorite part is signing off telling Cubs fans to care more about the Cubs winning than beating the Cardinals, while in the middle of a ridiculous inferiority complex open letter.

Also before reading this all I could think about was the NSBBer calling Elias Coblentz aka Crazy Cardinals Kid and playing Go Cubs Go on the phone after a big win.
