Releasing Brothers now seems odd doesn't it? Wonder if something happened or if they felt he just wasn't a fit.

they don't want his ankiel/wohlers syndrome infecting our good pitchers

There's a date coming up for arbitration players where if you release the player by that date you only have to pay 20% of their salary.

Take out the fact that it would be sending the Cubs to the World Series, I still think getting these guys in the NLCS again and donging them into oblivion might be more satisfying than eliminating the Cardinals last year.

I love that Bartolo Colon is in that picture.

sounds like the cubs are forcing the issue in Lester's simulated game and making him make pickoff throws as much as possible

Have they tried having him recite Playboy articles as hes making the throws?

he picked off vogelbach earlier!

I don't know what's sadder, the fact that Vogelbach was the guy he was able to pick off, or that Vogelbach got picked off knowing they were going to try and have Lester practice pick off throws.

I would hope they told Vogelbach to act like the pitcher didn't have any arms or something (like base-stealers treated Lester last year)

I dunno, the instant dislike of it almost kinda makes me want it to be a thing.

NOBODY ASKED YOU, BRANDON

brandon wants to take over kyle's role as the class contrarian

I was just catching up on this thread and was gonna say that Almora is either super slow or he Edmondsed the hell out of that catch linked earlier.

"Edmondsed"

This needs to become a term BA and other outlets use. Felt like he got such a great jump he didn't need to dive for it.

Almora isn't very speedy. Iirc pretty much every scouting service talked about how his instincts in cf that make him so good out there are other worldly because he's got very average speed for a cf'er. So his stellar defense heavily relies on his acumen for the position rather than his speed, which is impressive when he's pretty much praised across the board for his defensive ability.

I didn't really pay attention to where he was positioned for that catch, but I have noticed the couple of times I've watched that he seems to play really shallow. The moral to my story is, that was a horsefeathering great catch.

Kyle def knows this and has brought it up many times re: Almora in questioning just how good his defense really is.

How has Javy looked this spring? In general who is doing well, and whose struggling? (not that either are huge indicators but Id rather see someone doing well).
