I would like to murder the Cardinals every time we play them myself

No need, they do that well enough to themselves.

This is fantastic.

Villanueva hurt his ankle during fielding drills today and apparently is going to get an x-ray. Hopefully it's not too serious, but him starting on the DL certainly isn't the worst thing in terms of being able to keep him.

Side note: In Muscat's article I linked earlier, with the news that Baez will be the backup first baseman, I predict that Javy will appear at every position on the diamond except catcher this year (well and of course I doubt he pitches)

Lets see him do all 9 in one game!

i'm starting to share mojo's concern over maddon's mental well being

From last year:

Probably, though I really had an image of Maddon as fixed gear bike-riding old hippie, like he was Alex P. Keaton's dad or something. I'm not really sure why, but I wasn't expecting some rip-snortin', old man lunatic to come roaring up in an RV.

I started laughing my ass off when I found this line after reading that article.

The Cubs open their spring slate Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers and will give Travis Wood the ball to start (followed by Kyle Hendricks in that game).

Pierce Johnson takes the hill Friday against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim with Trevor Cahill Saturday (Cincinnati Reds) and Adam Warren Sunday (Arizona Diamondbacks).

Wood, Warren and Cahill are projected to start the season in the Cubs' bullpen, but could push likely fifth-starter Hendricks for a rotation spot or simply provide depth in case of an injury.

The Cubs haven't announced a specific date for the first starts for Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester and John Lackey, but look for the veteran trio to start making their 2016 spring debuts late next week sometime.

I really wanted to see where Jason Heyward wound up on this graphic after a season

I miss Starlin's terrible photos. He didn't carry the goofy-face tradition over to the Yankees:
