Thank god. No more ARod.

It's not that there will be no more ARod, there will be an ARod/Michael Kay telecast that is supposed to be like the Manning cast, but completely misses the point of the Manningcast. One longtime announcer and a robot who has been in the booth for a few years is not the same thing as two goofy brothers talking about the game with a cast of characters.

Instead they're gonna give him his own version of the Manning-cast with Michael Kay.

I can't imagine how anybody thought this would be a good idea. He's literally the opposite of Manning in terms of likeability and being interesting on TV.

I thought the Manning-cast was a stroke of genius by ESPN but now it just looks like they stumbled onto it by complete accident. I don't know how anyone could think that would be a good idea.

Agreed. No one has ever thought A-Rod was likable since he was about 24.

Everyone harping on A-Rod having a separate broadcast, when they're hiring Michael horsefeathering Kay?

I would love a Grant Brisbee and whoever he chooses to be his sidekick "Manningcast".

ESPN does have a way of running good things (and often, terrible things) into the ground. PTI used to be pretty decent, so they trot out a half dozen knock offs around it. Screamin' A Smith gets the ratings, now everyone on there is shouting hot takes all day. That Dan Orlovsky guy is their new flavor of the week, I guess.

Sad about Grobber. I always found his relationship with the media and listeners interesting. He was constantly teased by everyone, literally everyone...Boers and Bernstein had about 50 different audio snippets of his they would use regularly on their show. But there was also an immense amount of respect and fondness for him by those same people. RIP Grobber

“It’s a shame that this will likely be the first and last year of the show, though, as the Manning brothers can't seem to stop running afoul of the FCC.”

They’re really going to shut down the Manningcast because of a few swear words? Doubt it.

I don't think the FCC can do anything in this case. They don't regulate profanities on cable. People can file complaints, but the FCC will just toss them.

I thought you can only say so much before 9 or 10 PM, then it’s more free reign

That's correct, but only over the air. The FCC has no jurisdiction on cable. To whatever extent cable networks limit profanities and any other obscene material, it's only because they want to.

Give MNF the ability to flex games with the same importance as SNF does. I hate to agree w/ESPN but I prefer MNF being more relevant.
