steven matz was scratched from his start with elbow soreness. #Fpitchers

To add to this, apparently David Wright is dealing with shoulder issues due to having to change his throwing mechanics to accommodate his back problems.

Excellent write-up on the different 20 K games. Off the top of my head all of the conclusion Craig Edwards' draws were inline with my thinking on how impressive each one of the starts were.

I don't know much, but I know that Kerry Wood did that when he was 20 against a team that won nearly as many games as the 2 teams that Clemens had his against.

What makes Wood's game awesome is that he was poor range on a grounder by Gutierrez and a hit batter away from a perfect game.

none of this poor range nonsense, it was an error it was always an error and Kerry Wood has a no-hitter

Why can't I give more than one post love to this perfect post?

Luis Severino pulled grabbing his elbow. Right elbow soreness, getting an MRI.

Matt Harvey with another 5ER game in 5.2 IP.

Combine that with Matz skipping a start due to elbow soreness and degrom's K rate down nearly 3 per 9 innings and his fastball velocity down nearly 2.5mph and people in New York have to be freaking out.

Carlos Gomez (.182/.238/.248, 0 HR, 35% K, .293 BABIP) is Ian Desmonding his way out of any big FA deal...is this another Andruw Jones age-30 collapse?

though, Desmond might now be Fowlering his way into a decent FA recoupment

Have I ever mentioned that I wish I could go back into 2005 and force the Cubs to sign Carlos Beltran? The non-move that sealed the Cubs' fate last decade, I swear! He became the 4th switch hitter in ML history to hit 400 HRs today.

I wanted him so bad and was pissed Jimbo only made a token attempt to sign him.

Playing the alternate history timeline is dangerous though. You could say we probably don't sign Soriano after the 2006 disaster, but maybe instead we still sign Soriano but don't resign ARam. Maybe 2008 doesn't happen. On the other hand, maybe the Mets don't make the playoffs in 2006, and another team faces the Cardinals in the NLCS and doesn't let them win the World Series that year.

Did I say dangerous? I meant fun.
