I've heard more than a few talking heads say that they thought the Phillies were more than an April mirage. They have a winning record and good pitching, but they also have a run differential of -23.

Wong would be my #1 choice just because I have an irrational(?) dislike of him

Grichuk or Piscotty would be swell too

Grichuk is going to be back in AAA before long, at the rate he's going.

If it were a Cardinal, I'd prefer the hit be right in their sanctimonious intangibles. Molina, Wainwright or Holliday.

Man, these types of reports make me nervous

Major League Baseball is expected to announce in the next few days that another player has tested positive for the steroid Turinabol, a drug that was commonly used by East German athletes in the 1970s. The positive test is one of a handful being processed, two sources familiar with the cases told Outside the Lines, meaning it's all but certain that more announcements will follow.

Please please please no Cubs

a friend of mine who is a white sox fan said "maybe that's why heyward has a hurt wrist"...

my reaction:

PLEASE let it be a Cardinal

Diaz or Hazelbaker would be great.

Molina, having tried to speed up his recovery.

But seriously, I really just don't care about PEDs.

I just want no cub suspensions even though they'd still be awesome

Looks like the Sox DFA'd Danks like 3 years too late

time to throw him a minor league contract and watch him become a star

For some reason I feel pretty confident that none of the important Cubs players are using anything. I could be wrong, but I get a really "clean cut" vibe from this group.

In general, I think most of the steroid use from this point forward is going to consist of fringe-type guys. Guys who are willing to take the risk because they don't have much to lose. Like Jenrry Mejia.

It is professional athletics. I assume a large percentage of every team is using. I just have no sympathy for anyone using the cheap stuff they actually test for and getting caught.

You think that a large percentage of each team is still currently taking banned substances? Or substances that are not yet banned?

I've been wondering about this stuff. I'm thinking it might be like the "research chemical" type recreational drugs, where they can pretty much just keep changing the molecules around every time the law changes, so they are always one step ahead.

Altuve is on the juice right? He's 5'6" and 165lbs. How the hell could he have 9 hrs already.

His home stadium having a little league distance wall in LF doesn't hurt. I also think he's Arrieta like in his workout/diet regemine

4 of them have been over 400ft. One at 443. I guess I'll take the workout routine answer.

Agreed. Talking about the Cubs as a 'clean cut' bunch is the same type of worthless crap we'd mock if it came from people in St. Louis.

Garret Richards still hasn't recovered from the first game of the year against us as he's missing tomorrows start due to fatigue. No word if it's mental or physical fatigue.

Yeah but c'mon, that's apples to oranges. If Anthony Rizzo or Kris Bryant or Kyle Schwarber tests positive for PED's, I'll probably never trust a person ever again.

What about Jason Heyward, Dexter Fowler, or Addison Russell?

Apparently UCL fatigue. Scheduled for TJS.

Yes. All 3 of them would surprise me as well.

I could maybe see Soler testing positive for some sort of questionable substance, since I'm sure the guy takes a ton of supplements. Arrieta wouldn't shock me, even though I really do think he's clean.

So, to be clear....

Would never trust a person again: Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber

Wouldn't shock me: Arrieta

Would surprise me: Heyward, Fowler, Russell

Could see it: Soler

I would ask about someone like Strop, but....I think I get the picture.

Honestly I never even thought about Arrieta and PEDs until the speculative story popped up. I mean it makes perfect sense just looking from afar. Now that the idea has been introduced into my head, I am scared of him getting busted for something even though there is no actual evidence to suggest it.
