So Molina was picked as an all star since he had the next amount of votes then backs out because of an injury. His replacement was Navarez, so either Contreras declined or the swapped rules.

 

My guess is Molina felt pressure from not deserving it and Contreras agreed to back out to get Navarez in.

I think vote totals only matter for top 2 at position.

FWIW Narvaez has been way better than Willy and Molina, so good for him.

The Brewers acquired Adames on May 21 from the Rays to provide stability at shortstop, and he has done much more than that since joining his new team the next day in Cincinnati. Milwaukee won that day, then kept on winning. The Brewers are 33-16 since Adames joined them, the best mark in MLB over that span, and Adames is slashing .299/.380/.559. He leads the Brewers in hits, doubles, average, slugging percentage, OPS, extra-base hits and total bases during his tenure.

 

Brewers already won the SS extravaganza. Hoyer easily could have made that trade but he was too enamored with his Baez/Sogard combo.
