Yes, because a player can never improve defensively once they're called up...

What a bunch of disingenuous crap from these execs on the record.

Well, his minor league season is over so Eloy will just have to improve his defense from his couch.

I really hope that the next CBA destroys that stupid rule and we can just have the best players on the field when they're ready to play

Get rid of that and tying draft money to losing.

I went to the fangraphs playoff odds site to feel reassured, and sure enough, they have the Cubs as 84% likely to win the division...but then I also noticed that they have the American league around 64% likely to win the World Series, and presumably more if a favorite like the Astros make it. Is their sh1t broken because the bottom half of that league blows to a level they aren't modeling? 64% is cray cray, right?

It's a call a crap shoot at that point, but I guess if you HAD to try and get all number-y with it, the AL having the Astros and Red Sox technically gives them the edge.

An edge is one thing. 2-1 favs is another thing all-together.

I’ve felt this entire season that their regular season percentages looked very good, but their postseason percentages have been way off. For instance, many times this season the Dodgers have had pretty high WS winning odds while having less than a 50% chance of even making the LDS.

Please Javy, I'm begging you.

He should "Javy slide" into every base and then spike his helmet after crossing home plate

“This was just laziness on my part, and now I’m gonna regret this for a while. I mean, I’m in the prime of my career, I could have signed with anyone I wanted. At the very least, I should have asked someone, ‘Hey, are the Angels good or bad?’” Ohtani also told reporters that more disappointing than anything was discovering he was actually going to play in some shitty town called Anaheim instead of Los Angeles.

When Mickey York and Craig Monroe threw to the booth during Wednesday night’s broadcast of Fox Sports Detroit’s “Tigers Live” pregame show, an unexpected duo appeared on screen — that of Matt Shepard and Kirk Gibson.

Conspicuously absent from the show was the regular tandem of play-by-play announcer Mario Impemba and analyst Rod Allen.

Multiple sources told The Athletic that neither Impemba nor Allen were part of Wednesday’s broadcast due to a physical altercation between the two television personalities following Tuesday’s game in Chicago against the White Sox. It is not immediately clear what prompted the incident.
