Now, if Cubs fans are pissed at Puig because Theo and co. can't figure out Cuba to save their lives, OK, THAT I understand.

Eloy and Torres are Cuban, aren’t they? And beautiful Jorge

Eloy is Dominican and Torres is Venezuelan. Close enough to Cuba.

If anything, nature is going to force it to happen eventually. Too many cold weather teams/teams without domes or retractable roofs means that the first month+ of the season is just going to become more and more of a challenge to schedule (and make up later in the season).

Why will it become more of a challenge?

...

Because the first few weeks are just going to be more and more of an issue of dealing with extended ending of winter-type conditions slamming right into rainy spring.

Then summers are just getting hotter, plus throw in the chaos of climate change impacting rainfall and storm strengths.

The upside, I guess, is that going long won't really be an issue since it stays warmer longer...but it would be really surprising if they don't look to somehow curtail or roll back the start of the season. I don't know if that's actually shortening the season, or going back to playing scheduled double headers or what, but something is going to have to change. What the Cubs dealt with this year will end up becoming the norm, or worse.

They really ought to push back the season a week or two. Early November is generally better weather than late March/early April. A lot of older sportswriters raise hell at the idea of November baseball, but who gives a horsefeathers about them?

If they schedule all of the games in the first month+ in warm weather areas and domes can we get around this little hiccup and continue to destroy the planet for the next generation?

All those teams will complain about having to have more road games in the second half

Why is MLB assigning Hernandez to postseason games when a) he is annually voted as one of the worst umpires in the league and b) has an active lawsuit against MLB for racial discrimination?

are you suggesting he should be prevented from working because he's suing the organization that employs him for discrimination?

I’m suggesting that he sucks for multiple reasons and shouldn’t be allowed to umpire important games ever

it's good legally speaking from the MLB perspective to not only put him in high-profile games but then to watch him fail pathetically in them
