Harrelson was the worst announcer that I ever heard. It just goes to show you that if you hang around long enough, somebody will honor you

The worst part is he hasn't gotten worse over the years as Hary Carey did, he sucked like this right out of the chute. Reinsdorf loved him for some reason. Let's not forget Jerry made him the GM and he produced one of worst stretches of baseball in WS history.

fires LaRussa, Dombrowski and trades away Bonilla. uff

Harrelson must have some naughty pictures of Reinsdorf.

This will come as a surprise to literally no one, but Bob Nightengale probably has no idea what he's talking about in this case either.

Theo should never be allowed to forget not going all out to get him.

you keep posting that the cubs just didn’t bother to trade for yelich. who would we have given up? remember that the marlins are doing a twelve year rebuild and probably didn’t want trade packages centered on guys who had already made the majors and used up cheap years.

Some combo made out of pretty much anyone they would have wanted outside of Bryant.

I firmly believe they didn't really try and probably didn't offer anyone worth a damn besides Schwarber. I will indeed harp on this FOREVER.

It probably took Contreras to get him and you don't trade Contreras after the 2017 he had or Javy. If it took some combo of Happ/Almora and minor leaguers I'm sure it would've been done.

The hell I don't.

(Well, OK; you got me with Contreras. Baez I would have traded in a heartbeat for Yelich. Though I would have also traded Baez for Verlander, too, so there's that)

And trading Baez was hugely influenced by me being into the nonsense about Russell going to be awesome because he was still so young. What a dope I was.

So deGrom ended the year with 24 straight quality starts, which matches what Jake did between 15 and 16. Jake pitched better than deGrom (more innings, fewer hits, same number of walks, ERA of 0.86 vs. 1.67) but it's not like deGrom pitched poorly.

Jake went 20-1 during his run.

deGrom went 7-9.

Good job Mets offense.

taking the Cubs out of the equation (which they will probably do to themselves tonight. Where do you rank the playoff teams in terms of who you want to win?

I think i'm at this right now, 1 is solid but the rest can move a couple slots either way

1. A's - i think this one is probably pretty universal here

2. Red Sox - they are the hope for what happens when freed from Chili

3. Indians - meh, let them end their drought

4. Yankees - I don't get worked up about the Yankees, they've won one title in the last 18 years and they dong the hell out of the ball, that's fun

5. Astros - I'm curious if I'm the only one that prefers any AL over any non Cubs NL team winning? Only reason they're here

6. Rockies - just want the bottom 3 to win less than them

7. Braves - no great reason, just don't want them to win

8. Dodgers - f 'em

9. Brewers - f 'em more
