I'm going to give KW a little credit and think he might actually be kind of a genius in all of this. It's a lock at least some of the people in the clubhouse were sick of/weirded out by this kid being there ALL THE DAMN TIME and wanted him gone, or at least around less, and maybe vocalized that to upper management. Kenny falls on the sword and makes it out like this is all on him, gets a HORRIBLE player to quit and give up $15 million, and ultimately unites the team over this nonsense. If he actually planned any of it along those lines, I gotta tip my cap.

So, it's like Lee Marvin cutting off the hot water during training?

That's [expletive] terrible. Way to go whoever chopped that nonsense.

Yup. IIRC all parties involved decided it wouldn't work at all if they went that direction and changed it to her continuing to be a villain.

Don't you think it brings Ventura's authority into question? I am not a fan of anyone in authority passing the buck up the chain of command so they don't have to appear to make an unpopular decision. I don't think there is a scenario that I can think of that Ventura doesn't come off as weak in this.

*Shruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug*

I'll bet Williams wouldn't mind if it got rid of him too. He's the epitome of a useless manager.

I sense that the reason Ventura and Hahn are in their positions is because they are Williams yes men.

Hahn's seemingly pretty well-regarded around baseball; even if he's Kenny's yes-man, seems like a good guy to have around.

Ventura's hire always seemed like little more than cheap fan service.

I read that test audiences were the ones who rejected the anti-heel turn. Thank God.

I was listening to MLB radio while driving today and apparently Kazmir's velocity is way down, like topping out mid 80s, in his 2 spring starts. Maybe it's nothing and as a older guy he's just easing into things with a few weeks left in ST but at the same time it could be another guy added to the Dodgers already impressive list of pitchers on the DL to start the year.

That ending makes a lot more sense though. If she was really trying to lose why not trade Vaughn, Dorn etal. for prospects that would be ready in a couple years after they had moved the team? Plus, once they started winning enough games to get into contention that would have already voided the clause about moving the team for falling below X attendance level.

Because Vaughn was supposed to suck and Dorn was just high priced. Nobody was going to give up good things for them just because they were starting to have decent seasons.

Teams in real life that are trying to tank don't do that stuff that you're saying.

Nobody cared about farm systems back then except for superdorks.

I believe the clause required something like a horsefeathers ton of sellouts down the stretch.
