I get a kick out of the BTTF thing, but I think it'd be a bit too cartoonish to have Michael J. Fox throw out a pitch. Stick to Cub greats.

Sammy needs to get a game. The place would explode.

This. There will never be a better time to bring back Sammy and the fans will never be in higher spirits. I want to see one more sprint to the outfield.

Sammy should just stand at the top of the scoreboard with a bat. The next time Schwarber hits one there (like game 3 of the NLCS), Sammy should hit it right back. It'll be our version of the Miller Park slide, except it will feature a post-dong return-to-sender dong and therefore not suck.

I rate the odds of Ricketts being that cool and not being a meatball thinking Sammy would "taint the sanctity of the moment" or some such bull [expletive] as between 0% and 0%.

I am going to be seriously upset if Sammy doesn't throw one. It would be the absolute perfect time and the crowd would go bananas.

you underestimate the stupidity of most of our fan base (and baseball fans and people in general)

bill murray.

speaking of which, we get drunk john cusack and plain 'ol average jim belushi during the nlds and murray is nowhere to be seen? is he filming a movie or something? tell him to stop promoting that george clooney/sofia coppola christmas [expletive] and get his ass to wrigley field!

I honestly don't think there would be any booing in that moment.

It feels like Murray hasn't showed up (or at least hasn't been shown or talked about or made his way to the booth) since he threw out the first pitch in 2012, and even before that it seemed like he didn't make himself known at the games nearly as much as he did in the Caray/Stone days.

Murray was at that Cubs/Cards game this year where he called that little kid wearing a Cards jersey the spawn of satan or something. It was hilarious.

I don't live in Chicago so I'll have to trust you on this one, David. That's just really sad, however.

Bartman.

If the Cubs lost that game, fans would put him through hell again. Include him in the celebration, not pregame.

I kinda agree here. I think if/when Cubs win the WS that Bartman would throw out the first pitch the following year while raising a banner or something. Kinda like what the Sox did for Buckner.
