I'm actually impressed that it took until today, and deadspin, to be the ones to bring it up.

I think La Stella at 3B and KB in LF is the right call against Cole.

i like jackson in LF and KB at 3B better because PNC national forest. they have 3 CF out there...it'd be nice if we could have two.

I've heard the local radio guys joking about waiting for those phone calls, and Laurence Holmes actually took one, and shot the guy down hard. So at least it seems that the local guys get it at this point.

I think I like La Stella's bat against Cole over Jackson's enough to where I'll look past any defensive upgrade Jackson brings over KB in LF(if there is one, KB being awesome and all) and KB over La Stella at 3B.....I'm sure Jackson gets in the game by the 5th or 6th anyway.

yeah i guess infield defense is more important with jake pitching anyway

I'm sure some local and especially national writers will be pushing this narrative if the Cubs lose this game.

Unless there is a game changing gaffe this is the lowest hanging fruit for lazy writers to latch on to.

But none of that matters because the Cubs are going to win.

That's why I'm torn between Rat Boy and Baez at 3B. Maybe/probably I'm underselling La Stella's defense, but Baez just seems like the better option with the glove.

On Mulley and Hanley they said something similar, but La Stella is more likely to run up the pitch count, and more likely to put the ball in play than Baez in the event there is a guy on 3rd less than two outs.

Multiple people have brought up LaStella's ability to put the ball in play on the relatively rare chance he's up to bat in a 3rd and <2 out scenario, and I think thats really weird.

LaStella might be the choice to play, but his ability in such a rare scenario is not the reason why.

I brought up the fact that he is probably the best contact guy on the team, not for any particular situation. In general I'm all for go big or go home guys with lots of Ks and lots of power. But I also think there is plenty of reason to have a couple high contact guys available.
