Can PIT start some bum pitcher against us instead of Cole?

Liriano literally just held us to 1 run in 8 innings on Friday

will you shut the [expletive] up you [expletive] moron

Can we selectively ban him from all post season game threads? Either that or people stop quoting him b/c then I have to read what he says.

I remember when we used to joke about the Cubs having like a limited pool of runs to dole out for each game and not want them to spend too many on each contest. I'm beginning to have that completely irrational feeling of "alright Starlin, don't hit too well!! save some for the playoffs!!" even if it makes no sense.

Castro's season is one of the craziest things ever. He spent 3 months incapable of getting a hit to save his life, and now he's hitting over .400 in his last 100+ PA

standing on top of the plate is the magic cure all for everyone and everything it seems

i realize that the "mental gaffes" are taken into account in defense statistics (and they should, I suppose). But - and maybe this is meatbally - but I've never felt like Starlin was ever a liability on defense. His range isn't great, but he's always seemingly been quick in this reactions. His arm is more than adequate and as we saw tonight, he's capable of making really great plays. I guess I just feel like defensive metrics have to be taken with a grain of salt. It's the one (and last) side of baseball, to me, that isn't really all that easy or accurate to grade out.

That being said, since I "feel" he's average to maybe a tick about average, anybody else could "feel" the opposite.

mental gaffes? pretty sure those are actual physical mistakes bringing his grade down...not stuff like "oh whoops i forgot to cover" or whatever

defensive metrics aren't perfect, but i'd say your anecdotal observations should be taken with much more of a grain of salt.

i'm talking about mental gaffes that lead to errors. a statistic. but not ones that are typical or speak to his ability as a defender.

It's really [expletive] bizarre. Nobody was expecting anything much better than, "hey, maybe he won't embarrass himself now that he lost his fulltime job."

Obviously he's out of his mind this month, but holy [expletive], if the middle ground between this and August is based on him making adjustments at the plate and something he can actually sustain...yikes.

Man, the Cubs have quite dilemma this offseason. Between good Castro, Baez, Coghlan and Soler and 2 positions to play them.

Much better than previous season dilemmas like "Will it look super obvious we're trying to lose if we make Bryan LaHair our starting first baseman?"

i have no idea how you think those aren't a part of his ability as a defender. we've been seeing him play for 5 years. that is what he is.

I think we can expect one of Castro, Baez and Soler to be traded before next season. Even if they don't, there's still some platoon stuff you can do with Soler/Coghlan, and mixing players around with Bryant bouncing around outfield and 3b.

What I would really love to see is giving Schwarber a real shot behind the plate, because if he can stick there, then jesus christ this offense.

I think the middle ground would be last year's Castro, which was pretty damn good. Last year's Castro in this lineup is scary.

Plus if Jackson is going to decide to get hot.

EDIT: Thought you said postseason. I'm an idiot.
