Lol 11th straight loss for the Reds.

It looks very unlikely we will be able to catch the Pirates and play the WC game at Wrigley...their final series is against the Reds. Can't see them losing 2 out of 3 to that team.

I like the idea someone mentioned of how Cubs fans being able to watch the Cubs win that game on the screens at Wrigley might exorcise a bit of the terror they displayed constantly in 2007 and 2008.

I think winning the Wild Card game, regardless of location or where it's being watched, will loosen the fans up. it will be like winning a playoff round, regardless of the fact that it's one game.

Are we really blaming the fans being nervous at Wrigley for the sweep in 2008? Completely different situation. That team had a tight window to win and they played terrible. This team is fun to root for and will be good for awhile. Nothing to be nervous or tense about with this team. They might lose in the Wild Card game and that's okay.

I'm not sure how much of an effect it had but either way it was stupid and made our fans look bad.

I just felt that team wasn't playing well going into the playoffs. Perhaps it was because they clinched pretty early and there was no urgency towards the end of Sept, but the team just wasn't playing like they had all year towards the end.

eh they had nothing to cheer about. in the few instances that they did, they did.

i mean it sucked that the crowd was like that but it was because the play sucked.

I remember Wrigley going nuts after DeRosa's HR in the 1st. The team played awful and the crowd responded to their play.

Vince: Hey, E, see if we can get locker room access at the Cincy game.

E: Sorry, Vince. We can't do that.

Vince: E, what do I pay you for?

Drama: You know, baby bro, I think our Cincy weed dealer is 2nd cousins with Dexter Fowler on the Cubs.

Turtle: Yeaaaaah

E: No, that's the dumbest idea I've ever heard, it can't happen.

They were terrified in 2007, too; it's a Chicago thing. Any of the Bulls playoff games, the Bears playing the Packers to go to the SB, [expletive] even the THIRD [expletive] Stanley Cup the Blackhawks were about to win in 6 years were dominated by timid, relatively quiet Chicago fans who seem convinced everything is going to go wrong.

I want them to be going ape [expletive], dammit.

In 2007, they had two horrible losses in games 1 and 2 and then started the elimination game at home by giving up a HR to the first hitter and were never within less than 2 runs.

Don't care; lose your [expletive] minds expecting them to come back until the game is over. Chicago fans can eat [expletive].

i was at the game...like one good thing happened all game and there was almost nothing to cheer about. when there was, the crowd cheered. i don't understand what you wish they had done instead.

Be excited; they just immediately acted like as soon as they were behind they were doomed. What a bunch of duds.

A ton of Cubs fans ARE pretty shitty. We'll see if they get their act together this year.

i wonder if we'll ever get those crazy crowds in the streets like in 03 again

Entourage...the show whose idea of dramatic conflict is "hmm, do I star in this glamorous movie or bang this really hot chick? Oh I know, I'll go get my courtside seats at a Lakers game and then go get bottle service at a club in my Rolls Royce!"

And on the next episode of Entourage....

How come you don't think they'd be out there?

idk tbh...just dunno if it's a thing that would just happen again or a one time thing that happened to happen that year.

If there's one thing that Sammy knows a ton about, it's hockey fans, and the Chicago hockey community at large. It's in his blood.

I really don't think there's anything special about Chicago fans, or Cubs fans. The stadium goes nuts when things go well, its quiet when they don't. They're pretty charged before games as well.

Sports fans who attend live games suck in general. If you go to a football game and stand up to cheer when the team gets a first down, some fuddy duddy behind you complains that they can't see and can you please stay seated.

They need to make playoff tickets $5 and let the first 35000 drunks in the gate.
