What raw said. I think they might actually make sense as a taker for Vogelbach. They have had an offensive black hole at first base for years now and he's a guy they could probably plug in there next year.

What is the projection on Vogelbach at this point? A quick glance at his numbers this year seems to show that he's still basically a big fat power guy who's not hitting for all the much power (relatively speaking). Sexy OBP, though.

Productive major league regular for many years, i think. Though not in the field.

OK, so 1B or DH, but again, where's the power?

I don't think you are going to get a 28 year old quality arm with 2 arb years left (I think) without giving up a top level prospect like Torres. I'd be fairly stunned if a McKinney and anything from our system package would be enough. I could be wrong, but that'd be my hunch. I'd be very surprised if a Castro led package could get it done. Maybe Baez, although no real feel on how Preller may feel about Baez-type players.

I really really want to believe that baez is going to figure it out and be in the middle of our infield with russell for a long time so I'm reluctant to even mention him in trade talks.

Yeah, my ideal scenario is to trade Castro, keep Baez, trade for Zobrist, and sign him to a 2-year extension. Then finish the year with Zobrist, Baez, and Russell all sharing time in the MIF, with Zobrist having the ability to play OF (Soler struggle, platoon in CF or LF), and backup 1B. In 2016, Zobrist can play several positions as a starter depending on the offseason, as a backup (RH platoon to Coghlan, LH platoon to whoever CF is), or he'd be great insurance in case Baez can't hit ML pitching.

Vogelbach's future is as a guy who puts up an .825 OPS in the PCL for like four years in a row in his late 20s.

Matt Stairs would be the high-end projection, I think. Not likely to happen.

lol.

Looks like John Kruk light to me with a little more pop and a little less avg/obp.

CJ

McKinney

Castro

For:

Ross

Venable

Acceptable for us? Acceptable for them?

I think you're gonna need 2 of Torres/McKinney/Zagunis in any deal for Ross and then probably also include 1 or 2 of the pitchers (Underwood/CJ/PJ/Tseng, etc)

I don't see how you can justify that kind of package an arm that throws sliders 46.2% of the time. There's just too much risk involved.

I agree, personally, but that's probably a fair package given where we are at today that his elbow is fine, he's young, cheap and controllable. Personally I wouldn't trade for him if we had to give up more than 1 of those position players I mentioned. I would hope we could get it done with 1 of the position players and pitchers I mentioned along with a lesser player like a Black or Villanueva.

Better pitcher at the time of trade rumors or trade: Ross or Garza?

Ross, but look what has happened to Garza since his breakout season where he went breaking ball crazy. When he's not injured, he's simply terrible.

If it's McKinney and Edwards/Underwood, I'll drive all of them to the airport.

I'd rather keep Underwood of those 3 pitchers. But yeah, if that's the deal....why isn't it done yet?
