Someone on twitter said Javy Baez has hit more extra base hits in those 3 at bats than Starlin has hit in the last 22 games he's played, which I don't have the energy to check but my gut says is true

got to go back 26 games to see 4 doubles.

last HR was 40 games ago.

I wonder if someone stole that from me because I said it in the game thread last night.

Edit: Hmm...it was a 23 year old Cubs fan from Arkansas. You guys know anyone like that who frequents our game threads?

not possible that 2 cubs fans have the same independent thought

This no-power-lost, no-leg-kick version of Javy is...very, very encouraging, possibly even sexy.

In case folks missed it, his first home run was on a pitch way up in the zone that he'd probably whiff at 11 times out of 10 last year

Here's his 2nd:

not a terrible pitch to swing at when you're down 0-2. 2nd one was just a hanger.

Get him up!

I know, that's what I was implying but I don't think people caught on. If you look at ARCubsfan's profile it says he's 23. Smoking gun evidence!

Edit: Ok the real smoking gun is that the twitter user is just as irrationally negative during games as the NSBB poster

I think people, well most at least, caught on.

And that user's been quoted here before...

yes even more reason to make me hope and dream they do something with starlin, but how do you bench your "franchise" shortstop / veteran?

if they cant trade him im a fan of the "hey dude you just got hurt go hang with your kids for a while" 60 day dl

They say, "hey, you're not starting anymore."

Before they made time for him out of the hope he'd turn it around, either to make him appealing in a trade or so that he could again contribute to the team like he had before. It's now the end of July and he's looking worse than ever; there's no reason they'd need to dance around keeping him as the starter if Baez doesn't get traded. It's a non-existent problem.

Definitely flew over my head.

Subtlety is not my strong suit.

Interesting. Because to me, I'd think it would be even more insulting to ask Castro to fake an injury and watch the rest of the season from home rather than telling him he no longer is starting every day but still will be counted on to help the team.

But maybe that's just me.

Maybe it's just me, but to me, in my opinion, this makes sense.
