He searches for hot takes but they are generally well thought out and keep me entertained enough to appreciate them as a pleasant break from the usual stuff that blends in with everything else. I'm talking more about the BP Wrigleyville stuff as opposed to the Twitter takes though.

Jeff Sullivan is by far my favorite Fangraphs guy. I'm not even sure there's another one(I don't count Kiley McDaniel, who is awesome for prospects) that I actually consider a must-read. It seems like all the major sites are in a bit of a downturn, in my opinion.

Oh absolutely not! The major sites are on the up! There's been incredible findings coming from the writers of BP and FG. Chamberlain is destroying (in a good way) all the hitcast data. He made an xISO stat which is really good. Also the new xBABIP stat is slightly better than previous versions. Not only that, but they've done a great job of expanding its presence into larger markets. So now Eno Sarris can actually interview all the big guys and write about his findings on Fox Sports.

It's his [expletive] face. I don't care if he was the Oscar Wilde of the baseball world. If reading his [expletive] cured stupidity from all of civilization, I'd let people moron it the [expletive] up for all of eternity.

I plan on it. I just get lazy. I did actually start a blog with some PSD guys. A decent chunk of the content are my pieces. I try to incorporate a little more in-depth analysis to my work. I use a lot of pitch fx data and what not. Hopefully that's not a turn off for people since the sigma is that those who use more stats have blinders on, and I totally understand that. We actually have done a ton of pieces about batting mechanics. For instance, we noticed Castro's mechanical change basically the day he made it, wrote about it and made cool graphics showing the difference, and since then he's had a .470 wOBA I think. He talked to reporters a day or two after and said he made the adjustment. It's been a really fun project.

I don't know the protocol for posting stuff like this here since it seems spammy, so if you're interested in our stuff, PM me and I'll send you the link to the site.

why would a a baseball fan purposefully not read fangraphs?

Well I use it as a reference for stats, just don't read the articles.

I'm guessing you were referencing bleachernation and not BR though.

Sure. I don't read them so I wouldn't know.

It's not rebellion, it's laziness, mostly. If there is something interesting written on one of those sites, it will make its way here pretty quickly, so I just catch it second hand on NSBB instead of first hand on the other sites

If there are ever any "important" tweets, they're going to end up in a million other places on the internet anyways (like, say, HERE), so Twitter seems redundant

So your reasoning for not reading baseball articles is the same reasoning for not reading twitter. Cool.

I'd call it extreme faith in nsbb. It's flattering to the rest of us who do the leg work by copying tweets and links.

Too lazy to become informed about baseball. Not too lazy to post 57 thousand times on a baseball forum.

yep. sounds about right

I really should go read all those articles you guys constantly complain about sucking

Of all players with as many innings as him at second, Addison Russell had the highest UZR/150. Of all players with as many innings as him at short, he again had the highest UZR/150. He also finished fourth in all of baseball in DRS at both second base and shortstop, despite playing parts of the season at each spot.

Addison Russell led all qualifying SS in BB% this year. As a 21 year-old.

That's pretty cool. And considering batting order (which is something I think rarely rarely rarely factors in to peformance EXCEPT-) I expect many Shortstops bat 8th right in front of the pitcher and that inflates their BB even more than it "naturally" would.

Mojo is really confused why you're covering a non-Cubs affiliated team.

The idea of having to watch minor league games sounds like straight up HELL.

I stick to my prediction that he's leading off starting sometime next year. Can't pick a favorite between him or Bryant, but either or both are replacing Wood as my favorite Cubs player ever.

He could lead off day 1 if we replace Fowler with Heyward.

Or Heyward could lead off.

This is a problem I'd like the Cubs to have.

So if the Mets offered Syndergaard and a quality prospect in return for Russell, in the offseason, there wouldn't be a temptation to pull the trigger? Baez and Castro could battle over Short, and the loser would battle with Coghlan and La Stella over Second.

If Theo's key scouts took a look at Syndergaard's throwing motion, and felt it wouldn't get in the way of being a 200 inning a year pitcher, I'd probably say yes.

Two things I'd like to point out. Memes are pretty much the perfect way to destroy meaningful conversations. I can't tell you how many threads I've seen, on various forums, derailed by lazy posters who upload someone else's unfunny meme.

Number two. Excuse me for not getting all hot and bothered over a shortstop with an OPS under 700. While our farm system and big league club is brimming with elite young hitters, there isn't a single pitching prospect with Syndergaard's upside. So if our scouts like his mechanics, and don't believe they would get in the way of him being a workhorse, I don't think its silly to consider trading a below 700 OPS shortstop for a pitcher with upside almost everyone raves about.
