it's crazy how much my perception of this entire awesome year has been cemented/etched in by like 4 games/one week

 

like i barely remember the uncertainty i felt about whether we'd even get past the wild card. watching this all happen and feeling after the fact like it was supposed to.

It all flipped for me when I saw the second squeeze play and subsequent dong at Busch. Their fans were so incredulous after the ball hit the seats... there was this loud nervous hum, as if the whole stadium were asking,

 

"How could the lowly Cubs do this to us? We're going to lose, aren't we?"

having this series this way and then remembering what len said after soler hit his second dong at busch last year about how the whole place felt like they were like "what was THAT?" is pretty awesome

The TBS cast has been horrible, but on the highlight of Schwarbers dong you can hear the pure stupefied amazements: "...Mercy" "...what in the world?"

You know what I haven't heard in a while, which is great? The stupid [expletive] core 4 thing that Rogers, Sullivan or Muskat were trying to start/make a thing that they've had to abandon since everyone is so damn great. Somewhere I hope there's a warehouse filled with core 4 merchandise that those guys invested in and now can't sell.
