Chicago Bears @ChicagoBears

New #Bears OL coach Dave Magazu has served as position coach under John Fox past 12 years in Carolina and Denver.

Apparently that happened.

There were 3-4 assistant coaches hired yesterday, more or less right after the Fangio news came out.

Interesting that only a few decisions on current staff was made. Only a couple assistants were let go.

So far.

You don't officially let guys go until you have definitive replacement. But they all reportedly are free to look elsewhere.

They let go of a DL and TE coach I believe and I don't think they have replacements. And they hired one DB coach with another rumored to follow and still have both from the old staff. I think the only one for one was ST coordinator and assistant and DC.

Just wonder if guys like Pasquonoli and Hoke might survive it.

I definitely think some will survive. But w/o an official OC hire there are dominoes yet to fall.

It's interesting that they have hired some offensive assistants without having an OC. Wouldn't the OC have some say in that? Or is this how it works everywhere?

Yes offense side definitely still up in the air without a coordinator. With Trestman now on as an OC they may get lucky and lose a few of his guys without having to fire them (and save paying the salary).

DB is the particular spot of interest now. One definite hire with Fangio also rumored to be bringing his DB coach and one tweet expressing confidence that Hoke will stay. And no word on Harris. Something's gotta sort itself out there you'd think.

I'm guessing Hoke ends up at South Carolina and Donatell is here.

"Trestman has a brilliant offensive mind," said Russ Lande, a former Browns and St. Louis Rams scout who is now the director of college scouting for the Alouettes, the team Trestman led to two Grey Cup titles. "He'll have Joe Flacco playing the best football of his career. The only real concern with Marc is, 'Will he run the football enough?' He loves the passing game, that's his thing."

Well the line coach has been a Fox line coach for a decade, under multiple OC. I'm not sure the OC has much of a say in position coaches, it seems to me the HC has authority over every coaching hire.

Especially if there's some confidence that Gase is gonna get the job.

Some concerns about Gase?

There has been speculation that the job was Tomsula's to lose from the beginning. Plenty of us have wondered how much of a process there was given that the guy speculated to be getting the job all the way back in November ended up getting it. We will probably never know for certain what exactly went down, but rumors are starting to circulate.

Buzz around Mobile. Adam Gase screwed up the 49ers HC job in the last interview. He had it locked up before final meeting

Matt Maiocco was asked about Gase as a potential offensive coordinator, and he reiterated that he was under the impression things did not go down very well. Earlier in the day, friend of the site Melissa Jacobs, wrote at TheFootballGirl.com that she had heard rumblings he had let recent success go to his head, and come off as cocky and entitled.

I don't like a whole lot Fox as a coach, but now I see why you hire a guy like him. It's looking like the Bears will be getting 2 previously hot head coaching candidates as coordinators, and a huge part of that is because of the pull and respect that a guy like Fox has around the league.

Hopefully, this creates a scenario where Fox does well for 3-4 years and the next coach is already on the staff. Though, I doubt it would be Gase if the Bears are successful because he'll get a HC job before then.

Edit: started this post before the previous post was posted.

Didn't Flacco just have his best season this year? If Trestman can top that....
