I don't like it. I would be on pins and needles hoping upon hope Mettenberger could become the next Roethlisberger but more likely settling for the next Mitch Leidner. And that ain't good

funny you should mention that- Roethlisberger is a great comparable for Mettenberger

Not funny at all, Ben is the best case comp for Mett. But let's face it, the Bears are great at screwing up QBs, and if Mett's development was so fool proof, why would TN ever trade anything for Cutler?

If the Bears decide to trade Cutler, could they package him with another player to sweeten the pot ( ie for a better draft position)?

I really don't think so. Not many multi player deals.

So arguing against idiot people and trying to use their own arguments against them I came across an interesting stat.

Jay Cutler played at a 10.8 win pace from 2010-12.

I know a guy on another forum who always had Cutler's "record" in his signature, even before he got to the Bears. He mysteriously stopped updating it right around that time.

You guys are nuts if you think Cutler is gonna get you a 2nd round pick. With the salary the other team would be picking up, it's gonna be a late rounder. 4th or 5th rounder maybe?

You underestimate the absolute panic of teams who are adrift upon the Sea of Lost QBs.

Someone mentioned Mariota before? He projects to be a below average NFL QB. No thanks

LOL.

From Adam Schefter:

Several NFL executives believe that it’s possible for Bears QB Jay Cutler to go from being benched to becoming a first-scenario, test-case trade. Never before has a team trading a player also had to give up drat-pick compensation to get rid of him. But some NFL executives believe that with any team having to absorb $25.5 million worth of guarantees in Cutler’s contract, the Bears might have to package a decent draft pick to get another team to take him. NFL rules dictate that nominal compensation must be exchanged between teams, but it could mean another team surrendering a late-round pick to Chicago for Cutler and a better pick. Such a scenario could enrage Bears fans, but to get a team to take on so much guaranteed money that could be used on valuable free agents and contract extensions, the Bears just might have to compensate a team with more than Cutler to do it.

If Emery is allowed to pay Cutler a contract that he didn't really earn and then essentially pay someone else to pay Cutler that contract, then he deserves to literally die.

hey, I have an idea, lets trade big for a franchise quarterback, completely abuse him by not giving him a line, get slow to the party with a support cast, lambaste him to the media, give him one of the the biggest contracts in the NFL, and then turn around and BEG other teams to take him.

in a sense, I think Jay has earned every damn cent of that contract.

The best report to come out this week was saying that the Bears seriously thought about moving on from Cutler in the offseason. How do you say, "Ok let's either get rid of him or give him 135 million dollars." Incompetence at its finest.

That just doesn't make sense. You'd be better off cutting him before the third day of 2015 and taking the 3M net loss for 2015 and then moving on, all draft picks intact and no cap hit in 2016. At least then have a chance at the no 1 pick in 2016 and maybe Hackenberg looks like a franchise QB.

Jesus Christ I would be so pissed if they just dump him.

Yea if that was really the case the tag would have been the best option.

Okay I'm ready to move into the affirmative fire Emery rather than neutral.
