Except the process part. Bernstein irrationally abhorred Emery and Trestman's use of that word for some reason and kept saying how the new guys better not use that word, which is kinda funny because he loves Theo and Theo is constantly using that word.

Fangio is a 3-4 guy, right?

3-4 base. Uses some 4-3 under alignments and techniques. One could presume him coming under Fox would result in varying looks and the base D dependent on the skillset of the primary edge rusher.

I don't know about you, but I just feel comforted, relaxed, a little safer with Fox in place. Somewhat disturbing, I know, but with the 13-year NFL head-coaching veteran, there is the promise of stability among the coaching staff, discipline within the team, and a semblance of order and compatibility in the building.

While these are all expected and present in other organizations, Chicagoans are painfully aware they have been rarities with the Bears the past few decades. Maybe one or two were there occasionally, but hardly ever all three at the same time.

From some article by Issacson but I've seen this a couple of times since Fox was hired. I don't know maybe I'm just looking back on the Lovie era with rose colored glasses but I feel like his era was mostly defined by order and compatibility, and in his own way discipline within the team (yes he was player friendly and didn't hold guys accountable in the media but the behind the scenes impression I got is that the players were well policed behind closed doors and none of the locker room hinjiks we saw last year happened under lovie.) As for stability in coaching staff, maybe not so much with all the coordinates coming in and out of Halas Hall but I don't see how you can tell it will be this way with Fox either.

Anyways I thought it was weird that people are remembering the last decade like this.

It is beyond weird, it is borderline ignorant. Staff stability is a theory more than a practical matter. Coordinators get fired, promoted or bigger jobs elsewhere. That isn't why anybody should want fox.

Yeah, there's no such thing as staff stability in any football program, pro or college. The only ones I can think of off hand are LeBeau in Pitt for ten years or whatever and Capers in GB for however long that's been. The most successful franchise over the last 15 years has had several offensive and defensive coordinators during the Bellicheck and Brady era.

To me stability is where you lose guys, but don't skip a beat. One of your position coaches steps up and fills the role of the departing coordinator. Works the same way with players. If we draft well we'll lose a lot of good players eventually.

Falcons are hiring Kyle Shanahan as their OC, per league source. Shanahan and Dan Quinn planned to be package deal.

I'd love Gase and Fangio.

Apparently Fangio has experience with 4-3s and, of course, the always popular hybrid fronts.

#Bears announce they have reached an agreement with Jeff Rodgers to become the team's special teams coordinator.

Was the Broncos ST coordinator for the last 4 years.

Sigh.

First place I went and looked too, but this was definitely the worst of the 4 seasons he was there. Not sure if that's helpful or not.

I'd take any of the names rumored to be in the running for Bears DC. Fangio, Allen, Mike Smith, even Jim Schwartz would be an appealing DC.

Pretty bad with Carolina as well. Ugh.
