eh it's an org he has strong ties with and spent 10 years with

granted if i were the ravens i'd be pissed

The Ravens have nothing to be pissed about. He's already turned down other options and they have another personnel guy turning down offers.

i had heard talk that they threw him some extra money to turn down the other options

This is exactly what many of the "insiders" predicted last week. Oh well.

I like the idea of BPA or trading down. If Cooper falls to 7 our phone should be ringing pretty frequently, maybe even more than if one of the two QB's somehow fell. St Louis and San Fran in particular would/should be all over it.

Gary Kubiak will meet with Broncos for their head coaching opening. Interview expected this weekend. Suffice to say Elway very interested.

[expletive] you, Kubiak.

Heh, you're mad at him for?

It's his dream job, he knew at the same time the Bears were interested in him that Fox was going to be canned.

With all the circumstances surrounding it, it's obvious.

I don't care about his reasons, I wanted him for coach and he personally slighted me!!!

Actually I meant it pretty playfully.

boers and bernstein have been pretty much right with everything they've said about the bears (and cubs really) lately from their sources

might just be luck calling obvious stuff early on or maybe they actually do know people and things

John Fox's deal to become Bears HC is "all but done," per sources. @JasonPhilCole reported Thursday that Fox would be hired in Chicago.

I don't necessarily blame him if he looked at the Bears (and other) coaching situations and didn't like what he saw.

I agree, which makes me think that Marshall may legitimately be on his way out. They've been the primary reporters of that.

To hell with Tricky Dicky Kubiak.

I wouldn't mind Cooper at all. Didn't someone in here post that the Bears had, according to some statistical metric, the slowest receivers in 2014? Get someone in here with big-time talent who can stretch fields, then swing Marshall for a 4th or 5th.

If he is, then I hope Martellus and Kyle will STFU in response.

Neither Alshon or Marshall are speed demons, obviously, but I bet a lot of that had to do with the fact that both of them were playing on gimpy legs for significant amounts of time.

We do need more of a speed guy though. Wilson has a little more but I'd like more of a burner type in the mix.

Yes lately, but typically they say after a story breaks "My guy had been telling me this all along." Then why didn't you mention it?

@RapSheet

#Bears zeroed in on John Fox from the start, but GM Ryan Pace kept his options open until this morning. In talks with Fox now, as ESPN said

I think Marshall is gone. They have no liability if they cut him, did a good job with his contract.

Fox isn't a good in-game coach. This will depend on who they get as coordinators. If he brings in Jeff Davidson as the OC, they should have kept Lovie given bad play calling, bad in-game managing from a players coach.

My guesses for OC are Gase or Davidson and DC is Allen or Trgovac.

i think Fox gives Marshall a chance, but if he blows it, he's cut.

Everybody predicted Fox to the Bears once he was gone from Denver. Everybody predicted Trestman was gone. These guys were wishy washy on Emery whenever I listened and then acted as though they knew it was coming all along.

This Fox hiring actually goes against everything they said after the firings. They were saying forget about next year. Forget about the next couple years. This isn't about the short-term.

Hiring an old man with quick turnaround histories is all about the short-term. This is an investment in the now, which refutes everything the "do it the right way" Bernstein has been on about.

That's not true re Marshall. I think they'll eat roughly 6 of his 9 M to cut him. Same to trade him.

Right...they still have money that they'd have to pay him, but they do save money by cutting him.
