Did he just say running the ball and stopping the run is the essence of football? This is why I just ignore these things 99% of the time.

Who the hell is this woman asking about Urlacher's quotes about QBs?

Shes foreign?

So apparently "human talent" is gonna be a John Fox saying we're gonna hear a lot. Said it several times during the presser, and now on an interview with The Score.

Fox said he's going to make things right with Urlacher? I wasn't aware that he was wronged by the Bears (other than his own bitching)

Maybe Urlacher ought to make things right with the Bears. Or keep his flapping gums closed. Either will work for me.

Agreed. It's pretty annoying that Fox has that impression of the relationship, no doubt given to him by Urlacher himself. I'm sure Phillips and McCaskey loved hearing that viewpoint.

Remember Lovie's introductory presser? He said his first order of business is to beat Green Bay, as though beating them means anything more than beating the Lions or Vikings. Its just something these guys say to satisfy the general population.

yes and no, when Lovie was hired, GB was the class of the NFC. So, beating them consistently meant being the class of the NFC. GB at that time was in a string of 3 consecutive NFC North titles. He had to beat GB to do anything successful.

I like.

Seems like the OC options are shriveling up.

Former Raiders HC Dennis Allen is re-joining Saints in a senior defensive role, not heading to Chicago. Allen will work with NO DC Rob Ryan.

Took that job over the Bears DC. Surprised.

Unless the Bears told him they were going with someone else....

You're assuming it was offered to him?

Bears still need to beat GB. They'll be top dog in this conference for 10 more years barring a Rogers crippler.

Not that I think Fox should have copied Lovie's opening presser.

If Detroit keeps playing the way they did all season they will need to beat them too. And if the Vikes give Bridgewater an O-Line and anyone to throw to...

My point isn't that beating GB isn't important - it is. That said, depending on the year, beating the rest of your division rivals can be and often is equally important. I guess if it were me, I might say something like:

"The first thing we are going to do is gear up to beat our divisional opponents. Green Bay has been the best team in the North for a number of years, so they are at the top of the list. But we need to beat all of them - the Lions were a playoff team last year and the Vikes are young and clearly on the up-swing. Beating all of them is the path to the playoffs."

I realize this is splitting hairs a bit, but its a message board.

Marc Trestman and Mike Martz? Were Ron Turner and Mike Tice not available to interview?

It's just catering to the fans, some fans love that stuff. It's not they're extra effort into beating Gb and then less effort vs. everyone else. Those press conferences are part pep-rally.
