I have never seen anything like that swarming team defense they played last night. Any time it looked remotely like the Lightning had something going, a Blackhawks player poked the puck free.

And Tampa gave up with a minute to go. Kind of shocking. They waited way too long to pull their goalie and then the Hawks destroyed their will.

Tampa brings back essentially the same team next year, so I can certainly understand their optimism. They could use more depth on the blue line. When healthy their forward group is pretty solid 1-9.

I'm surprised there isn't a lot more hate for the Blackhawks among other fan bases. I like to think that Toews and Kane are likeable stars but I could see where fans of other teams would think of them the way we think of the Cardinals- sick of them doing things right and getting great performances out of depth players.

All the haters can suck it, especially the NHL network that was already dismantling the team an hour after the game ended.

I think Cooper really got outcoached in this series. And I don't think that's much to be ashamed about. With the exception of Game 3 against Anaheim, I think Q pretty much outcoached everybody in these playoffs.

The Blackhawks have the benefit of being the only great team in Chicago and being an NHL team, which means way less exposure than any other league. It's harder to hate when you aren't part of an obnoxious championship laden city that still acts like they've never won anything (Boston). They also play a fast entertaining style with stars, rather than a slow boring goon-fest.

Now, if the Cubs and Bears manage to win while the Blackhawks are still good, you can bet the hatred will grow.

Man I remember in late February when the Hawks were on a slide, one blowout loss in particular to Boston was jarring. There were rumors about Patrick Sharp and the locker room splintering, then Kane goes down for what was thought to be 8-12 weeks. It really seemed like the team was starting to fall apart.

Of course that goes to show you how overrated the regular season is when you are an elite team that has won multiple titles. In the end it was a blip in a 10 month journey to a championship.

Also, Saad may be important, but he's not necessarily a core guy.

Couldn't disagree more.

Yeah, I absolutely love Saad. Toews, Kane, Saad, Keith, Hammer, Crawford are the core.

That could have been demoralizing to the team. Credit Stan with picking them back up with the acquisitions. Vermette definitely paid dividends in the playoffs.

There's a really good chance that Teuvo is part of that core next year.

I thought his nerves really showed last night.

Sharp—probably the most likely of the seven to be wearing a different sweater come opening night—couldn’t help but be nostalgic. “Duncan, Brent, those guys are my brothers, my best friends in hockey. We’ve been together for 10 years.”

they did, but that doesn't change the fact that he's part of the core

You can't be a part of the core until you get at least two chin hairs to grow.

I think the Desjardins deal too paid dividends.

Oh absolutely. He showed enough throughout the playoffs to be incredibly excited about his future.

57% of tv's on in Chicago last night were watching the game.

The other 43% didn't leave their tv on while they were at the bar watching the game.

Well, the only thing people have said in favor of Crawford so far is, "Didn't you watch those three games?"

Crawford got paid what Jimmy Howard got paid. It was an overpayment but in two years time it will seem like a bargain. The Hawks don't win this year or 2013 without him.

Not calling you out in particular but what is it in this town with backup goalies and backup QB's?

Goalies are not quarterbacks. It is not the least bit close to a comparison. It is a crazy comparison.

The Blackhawks have won because of their skaters, not their goalies. You win because of your ~12 best skaters.

That couldn't be further from the truth.

I made the goalie Qb comparison because the meatballs in this town love the backup QB and backup goalie.

You made a terrible comparison.
