honestly what the [expletive] is gonna happen when we win the world series

as loved as this team is now, this is still the 4th most relevant team in town, right?

Nope, #3 with a bullet.

Sorry, Bulls.

I guess it depends on your definition of relevant? Is this like a success-independent relevance factor because they are number one right now.

Either way- I'd agree they pass the Bulls. Probably Cubs too

to me it's more like

in a vacuum, how much would a title from x team be appreciated

to me it's bears, cubs, bulls, blackhawks, sox

I guess I base it on how relevant they are if they were just a .500 team. Bears take the cake, but football overall is the most popular sport. Hawks are hard to judge in that case because the perception currently is so skewed from the success.

Still? No [expletive] way

Wishful thinking on David's part.

With all due respect, if the Cubs win the series, it's the story of the century, anywhere.

i agree. but the NFL is the NFL and it's 100% of the city vs 60-70% or whatever cubs vs sox is.

if it were just that, i think blackhawks are last pretty easily no?

by the jus t.500 standard i'd go

bears, cubs, sox, bulls, blackhawks

the .500 vs title totally changes the game to me

idk why

i just feel like by just being competitive, baseball teams get a lot of love here

bet you guys never could have thought that dollar bill dying could have turned out so well.

I felt like the day he was out would be the day the Hawks could move forward but I never dreamed of this.

I always come back to this:

I was listening to that game on the radio at work, and couldn't wait to get home to see the highlight. Hearing the other team's announcers gush like that really drove home how special it was about to become.

in what way?

i just think the bulls, cubs, and bears max out higher

i'm definitely biased but i felt like even when the sox won the series it was mostly ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh as far as the bandwagon went

Well they still beat the Sox. Pre 2007 or whenever Wirtz died they'd be last. Not sure how much to make of it now based on the success verse just having competent ownership.

i'm not trying to [expletive] on anything

this is very cool

i was just thinking that i can't even imagine what this mob would be like for the cubs

the bulls/hawks are the only debatable ones right? i just figured the jordan years got the bulls to a point that's hard to overcome but maybe that's lost its luster by now. i'm biased because i grew up with that, i guess.

Just watched Hossa interview. I still remember when we signed him. It really felt like we turned a corner then. Now there's no doubt.

so sharp is gone next year...who else in terms of big names?

I'm hammered! Pissed I sold my tickets but I have friends who are season ticket holders who left the NW burbs at 430. Due to the flooding arrived at the end of the 1st. Go Hawks! Next to the Cubs winning the WS the Hawks are my favorite. Bears won when I was just shy of 9 years old and that was awesome but I love this and the party that will follow for the next week

Correct. He came up immediately (no. 1 overall), Toews was picked the year before at No. 3 overall.

That's cool.

I guess the first time I really recognized the renaissance coming was the 08-09 playoffs.

I want that to be the Cubs so bad.

Honestly, I'm not upset about losing Sharp at all. He's a lot more name than production at this point in his career. Guys like Saad, Teravainen, TVR coming on should easily make up for it.

I think just Bickell and Sharp should be sufficient to squeeze them in under the cap. There might be some noise about moving Seabrook, but they won't do it.

to me, the craziest thing about this is that toews was addison russell's age (second?? youngest player in MLB?) when they won the first cup

Yea well they have to lock up Saad first. Depending on how much he ends up will probably impact some of the smaller name FAs

Hawks are a clear second in the city after the Bears right now. Bulls are a distant third, Cubs fourth, Sox fifth.
