Not calling you out in particular but what is it in this town with backup goalies and backup QB's?

Goalies are not quarterbacks. It is not the least bit close to a comparison. It is a crazy comparison.

The Blackhawks have won because of their skaters, not their goalies. You win because of your ~12 best skaters.

That couldn't be further from the truth.

I made the goalie Qb comparison because the meatballs in this town love the backup QB and backup goalie.

You made a terrible comparison.

No it makes Crawford haters like you look real stupid after he pitches a shutout in a cup clinching game. Just like the meatheads pining for "dat McGowan" from 2013

I'm not going to argue the merits of Crawford the morning after a Cup win.

Elite Goalies and Elite QBs are a bad comparison. Backup Goalies and Backup QBs are a decent comparison, in that they are more likely to lose you a game than win you one.

that was as much of a team shutout as you could get.

also, as has been repeated a million times but dunces like you can't figure out. It's not hating Crawford it's hating his contract.

The skaters won the cup again and they need cap space for more skaters if they want to win another.

Tampa brings back essentially the same team next year, so I can certainly understand their optimism. They could use more depth on the blue line. When healthy their forward group is pretty solid 1-9.

I'm surprised there isn't a lot more hate for the Blackhawks among other fan bases. I like to think that Toews and Kane are likeable stars but I could see where fans of other teams would think of them the way we think of the Cardinals- sick of them doing things right and getting great performances out of depth players.

All the haters can suck it, especially the NHL network that was already dismantling the team an hour after the game ended.

Yeah, likeable stars is it. Crosby isn't likeable because he has a reputation of being soft and getting all the calls. Toews and Kane don't. I think American fans also really hate Russian players for the most part. I think you'd see a lot more hate if Hossa was the biggest star on the team.

Also, the Hawks don't have any really "dirty" players or play a dirty style of hockey like many other teams that have had success with recently.

Just making sure you know he's not Russian, right?

Well, the only thing people have said in favor of Crawford so far is, "Didn't you watch those three games?"

Crawford got paid what Jimmy Howard got paid. It was an overpayment but in two years time it will seem like a bargain. The Hawks don't win this year or 2013 without him.

I'll give you that. He is seemingly the most hated guy on the team, going by all the reactions from the teams he has "abandoned".

Given the context of him mentioning Crosby and why people can dislike him first, I think he's talking about teams led by russians like Ovechkin.

True, watching this video I can see how uninspiring having that guy be your inspiring presence would be.

Eh he was at least a prospect and a former high pick.

I still can't believe Stamkos didn't elevate that puck.

Yea. That should have been an easy goal.

And Raanta is a prospect.

Which Jimmy Claussen? The 2014 version had already used up his prospect status.

Anyways regarding Crawford I don't take huge offense to the discussion of his contract now. With the crunch looming anyone making big money is subject to scrutiny. But people have been ragging on Crow since he signed that deal- a period in which we were basically a coin flip from two additional Stanley cups. And despite him not being as critical as the skaters in that formula he played well and I don't believe we're as successful with a Darling or Raanta manning the net. So the deal is already a good one IMO. Edited by WrigleyField 22

So what can Darling fetch in the offseason? His value may never be any higher than it is now. Crawford isn't going anywhere.

They could have included Shaw's header in that video.

that was featured prominently in the hockey night in canada all playoff recap

Yep, that was great...the ref saying he'd never seen that before...hilarious.
