Tampa coach Jon Cooper went out of his way in his postgame news conference to not talk about injuries and let Chicago have their moment.

Actually, I thought Cooper went out of his way to point out that health determined the winner.

Just heard his conference again. He really didn't want to talk about the injuries and noted that the Hawks no doubt had injured guys as well. I thought he handled it very well.

Meanwhile, Cherry is going off on Twitter about how Cooper misused Stamkos the entire series and he should reconsider signing there long-term.

So what is the going rate for a solid/above average goalie these days? Hey, remember when we signed Marty Turco after Niemi left because this team could win with any piece of [expletive] goalie? How'd that work? We have a great player in net at a reasonable rate. If that means we have to continue to develop the bottom 6 players on this roster consistently, then so be it.

You're the dunce. You still have refused to give any credit for Crawford playing nearly six games in this series without being up/down by more than 1 goal. It was high pressure the entire series. He held strong. Just like he did against Anaheim. Just like he did against Minnesota. Yes, he struggled against Nashville.

What the hell is wrong with you? Some people will just never be satisfied and can't enjoy watching a dynasty team for the past six seasons and there's little reason to believe they don't have the ability to win championships for the duration of Toews and Kane's contracts.

I said I didn't have any interest in talking about the cap crunch needs and didn't do any of it until jerks like you and that other guy went around insulting me for not blowing Crawford.

I had a great time enjoying watching this team, which began winning before Crawford did anything, and have been incredibly satisfied with what they have done. I don't have a great time dealing with jerks like you being jerky but that is why I said I didn't want to talk about the obvious cap crunch moves that will have to be made.

More to MarkR than Goony here, but let's talk about that in the offseason thread and reserve this one for celebrating the current championship.

(I know I'm guilty, too)

So anybody hear anything more why the Cup showed up late to the UC? I know the weather was terrible but it was in a Chicago hotel room since late morning. Usually it arrives in the 2nd period if the potential clinching team is within striking distance. Edited by Brian707

The hotel was by O'Hare, not downtown so they had farther to go. I blame #PoorGaryBettman for making the cup guy stay all the way out there.

yeah, that is the now 3 year old. I was referring to the 6 year old though. she passed along the Kane jersey and is in need of some new gear.

Oh that makes sense. I saw the picture of the cup in the hotel room, the carpet made it look like it was a Red Roof Inn from the 80's

I didn't even notice the lateness until a guy mentioned it on the street this morning while I was walking the dog. They claimed to have left the hotel right at puck drop, which still seems weird to me. Why not just park it at the stadium in advance?

Traffic was insane yesterday due to the weather, but, still, no way they left at puck drop. I don't doubt that it took 2 hours from O'Hare to the UC, but that still would have gotten it there in time without the need for a police escort like they got. Maybe the cup guy was rubbing one out or eating dinner or something.

Things are gonna be miserable downtown Thursday for drivers. Washington and Madison are torn up and now Monroe will be shut down. Fun!

Also, Saad may be important, but he's not necessarily a core guy.

When does Hossa retire? He hasnt declined significantly yet.

saad is core in hell. the only players they'd prioritize over him are kane, toews, and keith.

Oduya played with a torn elbow.

Versteeg thinks he'll need to get his knee cleaned up in the offseason.

Kruger and Shaw were both playing injured, but no word yet on what.

bishop played with a torn groin, and tyler johnson had a broken wrist (that one is huge, he was their best player in the first 3 rounds).

The "skaters won, not the goalie" meme doesn't really apply this year, especially not to the Final. They lose that series without Crawford playing insane.

there was also the stretch in the 2013 playoffs where the blackhawks were a complete mess and he stole multiple games. i understand what jersey and tim are trying to say, but i think they are severely underestimating his impact on the last 2 cup runs. he hasn't just made the saves he's supposed to make. he has legitimately taken over games, and could easily be a 2 time conn smythe winner.

OK, one more then I have to go to bed:

I kinda wish Tampa Bay had gotten one in the closing seconds to give Kane two Cup-winners.

i actually kind of thought this last night too

Anyone else trying to tickets to the Soldier Field rally?

I have no idea if they are going to "sell" out in seconds or longer. I will be on at noon
