People are still talking about Bartman eleven years after it happened. They haven't had anything near that memorable. This is a cool run, but one that all of America will forget about five seconds after it's over.

Sorry, I thought it was clear that when I said memorable I meant memorable in favor of the Cubs. That Royals Wild Card game was bonkers and full of memories.

The Cubs have what?

-Woods double in G1 vs. Braves 2003

-Aramis Grand Slam G4 vs. Marlins 2003

-Cubs homerfest G2 vs. Marlins 2003

-Randall Simon HR G3 vs. Marlins 2003

-Huge 1st inning in G2 vs. Giants in 1989

-Sutcliffe HR in G1 vs. Padres in 1984

Nothing from 1998, 2007, 2008

You might include Wood's HR in G7 2003 or Sosa's HR in G1 2003 but those were both in losses so [expletive] them.

Not if they sweep their way to the title.

Ok, but I really doubt that happens. Especially since I think they are about to get a long layoff while the NL battles it out.

Nothing from 1998? Does the play-in game not register for you?

That Kerry Wood HR is like the highpoint of my Cubs fandom. [expletive] you

Not a playoff game

This is my #1 Cubs postseason memory

Mine is still the Aramis Grand Slam. It was the moment I really believed we were going to the World Series. I have been trying for years to find a clip of it, but I'm dumbfounded that I can't find one in this day and age when entire games (3, 6 and 7) of that series are on youtube. The only thing I can find is a still picture:

Glanville triple has to be in there

pinnacle of my cubs fandom outside of the moments right before the game 6 debacle (got more than one "OMG THEY'RE GONNA DO IT!!" phone call) is probably being in atlanta for game 5 and afterward.

It's odd how little I remember of that Atlanta series. I remember Borowski getting the final K. I remember the hype surrounding the Maddux-Prior matchup in (I think?) Game 3 at Wrigley. I think Alex Gonzalez hit a few HRs?

The drunken and out of sync cubs hat chop was the greatest thing ever.

little things I remember about that series:

Game 1:

Pretty much just Wood looking dominant and then getting that huge hit to take the lead

Game 2:

Cubs scoring 2 in the first off a Sosa double, then giving up the lead. Remember Tom Goodwin scoring on a sac fly to tie the game in the 8th inning only to have the Cubs give the lead back up in the bottom of the inning

Game 3:

Delayed start by rain, Cubs scoring 2 in the first, Prior being absolutely dominant before giving up a run in the later innings, Randall Simon doubling to give the cubs an insurance run in the 8th

Game 4:

All I remember is Karros and Chipper Jones both hitting 2 HRs and the Braves winning

Game 5:

Wood again, Alou i think had an early RBI single to take some pressure off, Aramis and (i think) AGonz both hit home runs to add to the lead. I remember a weird "trapping play" on a ball hit by the Braves that allowed a run to score to make it 4-1 or 5-1, and then I remember Borowski's K to send it.

Not sure why I remember this, but game 4 vs. ATL: Robert Fick running into Eric Karros during a play at 1st base.

Yes, this. I was pissed at Fick for the rest of his time in the big leagues (not long).

I also remember Wood's big hit against Atlanta. But it does seem odd that there aren't more vivid memories of that series, considering it went 5 games and was, you know, our only postseason series win in any of our lifetimes. I'm guessing the Marlins series just blew it all away.

I was in a bar in Athens, Georgia for game 4. It was the night after Georgia/Alabama and a pretty pretty pretty good day despite the loss. I remember expressing extreme confidence to the college kids at the bar.

kerry wood almost single handedly won the series

NLDS:

Game 1: I broke my cell phone after the 4th or 5th inning when they left the bases loaded. Screamed after the Wood double.

Game 3: Mark Prior

Game 5: Kerry Wood

NLCS:

Game 1: Thought we were going to sweep after the first inning, screamed again after Sosa's HR

Game 2: Seriously, all I remember is lots of dongs and Mark Prior being left in the game after throwing 110 pitchers or more.

Game 3: Simon's 8th inning HR, the Glanville triple

Game 4: Aramis grand slam, nothing else

Game 5: Went to a semi-cubs bar (I was a college freshman in Omaha), absolutely slammed for the Sunday afternoon game. Everyone figured they were going to clinch that day, even remember the pre-game announcer saying he thought they were going to finish the Marlins off.

Game 6: Had a flag football game that night, didn't start watching until the top of the 8th. seriously.

Game 7: Thought it was over before it started, and then the first inning happened. Screamed again during the Wood home run, and then thought holy crap after the Alou home run.

Game 1 frustrates me almost as much as games 6 and 7. Cubs had a 4-0 lead and then Zambrano, who gave up 9 HR in 214 innings that year, gives up 3 HRs in a span of 4 batters. Sucks that he he didn't have it going that game, but was excellent in Game 5 when Josh Beckett made it moot with a CG SO domination.

How long is this TBS tv deal again? The booth is bad enough, but in between the epilepsy inducing camera shots, they didn't show one decent look at the Rouals scoring 2 or the runner trying to advance to third. Who the [expletive] cuts away to the fans twice while runners are rounding 3rd?
