Only the second time two wild card teams made the World Series. The Angels-Giants in 2002 was the other.

Not that I would have preferred the Cardinals, but after the rain game in August the Giants and their fans don't really deserve more nice things.

I would have rather seen Jeter hit walk off HRs in 4 straight WS games than watch the cardinals go to another series.

Well put.

The MLB has to find a way to make more flexible scheduling. The Royals and Giants both have 4 full days off before the World Series starts and during that time the rest of the world outside of KC and SF forget the season is still going on.

For ratings, wouldn't playing on Tues/Wed/Fri be great as they won't be going against the NFL or major college football games on any of those days?

They've always insisted that it would be too hard for:

a) getting national TV to agree to it

b) lining up hotel rooms and all that for all their corporate sponsors and media

The pitch Pence hit out couldn't have been more down the middle.

As bad as Harold Reynolds is mostly, he has been pretty enjoyable and made some good observations as a color guy in the booth. Maybe he is better in the booth with the pace of the game, and not when given so much freedom to be a moron on MLBTV.

Counterpoint: It's taking a lot of willpower not to verbalize "wrong...wrong...especially wrong" nearly every time Reynolds speaks on this broadcast.

It's to the point that I was genuinely surprised that he was right at how rarely Blanco GIDPs

Harold recalls Mike Morse hitting 40 home runs in the Mariners system one year and thinking he was the next big thing at SS. Mike Morse never cracked 17 home runs in a minor league season, he had 39 career home runs in 1900+ PA prior to reaching the Major Leagues.

Here's my favorite thing HR said tonight:

-He posited that NL hitters hit fastballs better than AL hitters after Pence launched his.

-He then said that the NL must see more fastballs because of the DH. Then he stopped talking.

Now, I haven't done my research on this, but I'm guessing that the only thing he got right here is that the NL does not have the DH.

royals fans surprisingly lively for being down 7-0 (before that HR)

He never played more than 49 games at SS in a season for the Mariners Farm, maxing out at 10 HRs.
