Yeah, but there's a middle ground between "ZOMG, HE'S OUT THERE TRYING TO BEST BUDS WITH EVERYONE!" and Rose flat out saying that he doesn't think they need whatever big FA's are out there. Yeah, I get what he's doing in clumsily propping up his team, but somebody teach him a [expletive] diplomatic answer for once.

Rose told Yahoo Sports on Sunday that he doesn't plan to recruit Anthony – or any free agent, for that matter – even though he likes Anthony's game and thinks they can play alongside each other.

Rose's reason is simple: He said it's "not his job."

"My thing is if they want to come, they can come," Rose said.

Anthony averaged 27.4 points for the New York Knicks last season. Rose averaged 21.8 points and 7.9 assists during the 2011-12 season – the last before he injured his left knee in the 2012 playoffs. Rose respects Anthony's game and believes they can co-exist.

"I love Melo's game," Rose said. "He's a great player. Takes the game serious. He's consistent. He shoots the ball great. I love his heart.

"I can play with anybody, no matter who it is. I believe I can play with anyone if they step on the court with me."

I don't care about his recruiting quotes. I care about the ones where he puts his health and competitive drive so much in the air. If he isn't on the phone with Melo and Rose's quotes are all he has to go off of, I'd be worried.

At this point, what would he say to convince someone to come here? He hasn't been able to play in years.

There were very few things I've enjoyed more in sports during my lifetime then watching Rose come into his own and become a superstar. Loved his personality, loved his game, loved how he came up big in clutch moments. I would have killed for him and given him access to my wife.

It's not that I'm not a DRose fan now, or that I don't like him. It's just....not the same. I don't know if my perception is altered by the injuries and not continually being rewarded for cheering for him, but his personality changed and he has become a lot less likable, a lot more fallible. It sucks because I really loved to love Rose.

What are the negatives for recruiting players to come play with you? There are none. It can't hurt one bit to go out and meet with somebody to say that you should come to this team.

His unwillingness (and open unwillingness) to recruit is peculiar, to say the least.

Did someone actually explain to him what the word "recruit" means? This could all be a huge misunderstanding.

Liking the Cubs Bulls and Packers is unacceptable and stupid.

I'm not a Parsons fan on at 10 mil per if that's what he gets.

If I'm the Bulls, I look at Gortat and Nick Young as the FAs.

I can't see Anthony coming.

Hopefully Mirotic can be signed around 5 mil. Amnesty Boozer, trade Gibson for a 1 send that pick with Dunleavy and Randolph to clear the cap space.

G ortat gives them more size and Noah some rest. As much as I dislike Young at times, he is a scorer and likely cheaper because of his poor shot selection.

Speaking of, forget Jamison...I see Parsons as McDermott's best case scenario.

Apologies for the same race player comp.

Is he even close to as athletic as Parsons?

Testing wise I think he's more athletic.

Haven't heard that one before, but what's your point?

Why are you getting rid of Taj? I love the idea of a Taj/Mirotic/Noah/Smith front court.

And if we trade Taj it better be for a decent 1st round pick with limited protection. Not for some crap that we then use to get rid of Randolph. And Dunleavy has positive trade value due to being on a team-friendly deal. We shouldn't have to pay to clear him.

4: Taj 20, Mirotic 20, Randolph, 8

5: Noah 30, Taj 10, Smith 8

Or something close to that. I doubt Thibs would let Randolph or Smith play that much, but it would be nice to limit Taj's, and especially, Noah's minutes.

Now if I didn't know you were trying to counter my point I'd have thanked you for actually making it for me; that's probably the most open he's been vocally about the Bulls trying to big up another big name, and even then it's still this wishy-washy, backhanded stuff where he's like, "yeah, he can come here, I guess, whatever" and then caps it off with, "but really, who needs him, I can make ANYONE good." He praised his game, but said absolutely nothing about specifically wanting Anthony as a Bull, which, hey, it can't hurt.

Yeah, recruiting isn't his job, but other stars DO do it, and we've seen it work. Rose not only doesn't do it, but he's gone out of his way to vocalize how much he doesn't like it and doesn't want to do it and how the Bulls don't need another star, etc., etc.. I would just like it if my team's star player seemed a little more invested in bringing another big name aboard.

I know there are salary cap ramifications with Carmelo but I really preferred Harris for the Bulls situation (and I do like McDermott as a prospect).

To my knowledge The 2010 Heat are the main, and maybe only example of "recruiting" of a top free agent. And that situation is way way different. Those guys were friends, had a plan to do this, the heat were one of the very few if not only teams that could add three near max deals, and the inherent advantage of miami. It's not like wade was les miles. They also had pat Riley working on it.

Did James Harden bring in Howard? Give me an example of a star player successfully recruiting another star player. This doesn't actually exist.
