Week 14: Cowboys (7-5) @ Bears (6-6) Mon Night ESPN

[expletive] Dallas, I need this one. Annoying jerk Cowboys fan at work, ugh.

You're in Indiana and bitching about ONE jerk Cowboy fan at work? I'll trade spots with you in a heartbeat.

You would be surprised by how many Cowboys fans there are in Indiana... esp. from my area (Lafayette). There's a ton of them and it's extremely annoying.

@mikecwright: Cutler said that he wants to play Monday night, but indicates he still hasn't been cleared.

One quarterback that will hit the free agency market, and may not be picked up by his current team, is Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, and the Jets should take a look at him.

That could be fun. Chicago hates Cutler (stupid people), can't imagine what NYC would think.

They would welcome him as a hero and then begin to tear him apart by the 2nd preseason game.

This would be terrible for me.

Getting way ahead of myself and probably wasting my time.......

But if the Bears can get into the playoffs somehow, things don't look too bad. If they get in, that means the Bears would have likely won the division. If so, that means they will have likely beaten Philly and Dallas. Means, they would likely be the #3 seed in the NFC. NO and Carolina play each other twice, so whether they split or 1 team wins both, the loser has to worry about falling behind SF (NO did beat SF though). Reason this is important is because the path away from SF and Seattle is much more desirable.

Best case scenario would be NO coming to Chicago in the 1st round. Road game at Carolina in the 2nd round, doesn't seem too daunting. And I think SF is the only team that could win in Seattle (due to familiarity, though they certainly haven't fared well there). So, then you could have a home NFC championship game.

I like your style raw.

But we've gone from the it would be nice to have them win out the rest of the season to it is now an absolute necessity to win every game.

Historically, I'm an optimist, but while I really like certain aspects of the Bears, I think injuries have just made them too much of a mess to convince myself that they'll make the playoffs. I just don't see it.

Darn Eagles are on a run now, too. That game could be very, very ugly for the Bears. You never know, but I don't see it either.

This would have been welcomed during the 3rd quarter on Sunday when we were all talking deep playoff run for the Bears.

Yeah, let's talk about it after Philly beats Detroit and we beat Dallas. That's about the only scenario that can revive the prospect of going. Of course if that happens all I'll think about is how Trestman is the reason we're not in sole possession of 1st.

Also Bears averaging 28.6 in games Cutler has started and finished. 22.6 when McCown starts. Full TD difference.

I did appreciate the the 11-whatever guys on ESPN 1000 shutting down a caller talking about the "QB controversy" as definitively as possible today. Just pointing out how Cutler is flat-out much better and how there is no controversy whatsoever.

Advanced Stats suggest a significantly higher level of play from McCown than from Cutler, if you care for statistical comparisons

Of course, they're playing with entirely different playbooks, so it's not a 1:1 comparison. McCown's presence really limits what the Bears can do offensively in the system, but within each system, he's a safer bet.

Risk/reward, mostly.

I feel like the OL play has really regressed with McCown in there, but I feel like he's gotten away from pressure maybe even better than Cutler could. Of course, last time we saw Cutler he wasn't healthy enough to get away from anything.

I think it is best that stay out of this thread.

I have Jeffery on my fantasy team, so it makes this game a little more fun with it being the playoffs. Still Dallas needs to get a 1 game lead on Philly prior to their matchup.

IMO, McCown holds the ball much longer than Jay, in part because he needs greater seperation in order to complete passes. In other words, Jay has a much stronger arm and better touch on deep balls, inside shoulder throws, etc.

that sounds like the Seahawks pipe dream for a NFC home playoff game in 2011
