If the bulls had an all star level d rose on this years team we would be the 1 seed in the east and would absolutely contend. How can you possibly say otherwise.

And why does being in a bad conference have to do with anything? The bulls have a harder road to the finals than anybody in the west they need to get through the 2 time nba champions. Being in te east make it easier to get to the second round not the finals.

I'm just glad the playoffs are here and we can put the near meaningless regular season behind us...NBA and NHL.

This. Although at least the NHL point system gives even bad teams somewhat of a shot to close a substantial gap by reeling off 10 straight. Really should shorten it to something like 60 games for the NBA and 65 for the NHL.

The Bulls likely aren't getting past Miami in the second round. Carmelo is on the radar, I guess, assuming that Boozer is amnestied (no reason to think he won't be). They will have two 1st round picks assuming they grab Charlotte's. I'd like to see them grab a SG or SF who can shoot from range and a big man with a mean streak.

The middle of the 1st Round appears to be as fluid as any in recent memory. I've seen some mocks with Wille Cauley-Stein as a lottery pick, others having him grabbed by the Bulls in the 2nd Rnd. Kyle Anderson (probably because he isn't terribly athletic) is also all over the place. Aaron Gordon seems to have solidified his status as lottery pick after the tourney, but earlier on I had see him falling to the Bulls, to I put him on the list below (though I would prefer they avoid him). Potentially available players include:

SG/SF

Nick Stauskas

Jerami Grant

Zach LaVine

Rodney Hood

TJ Warren

James Young

Jordan Adams

Kyle Anderson

PF/C

Adreian Payne

Montrezl Harrell

Aaron Gordon

Willie Cauley-Stein

Cleanthony Early

Others who grade as 1st/2nd rounders depending on who you ask: PJ Hairston, Aaron Harrison, CJ Wilcox, Jarnell Stokes, James McAdoo, and Johnny O'Bryant.

To me Payne is the choice amongst the big guys. He's got some polish, an NBA-ready body, and played in a very physical, defense-oriented conference. Aaron Gordon will likely be gone (I think he's Tyrus Thomas anyway). Harrell is a mean SOB, but I think Payne is more skilled.

Its harder to get a fix on SG/SF. Stauskas strikes me as a specialist who would struggle in Thibs' system because he is limited on D. I love Anderson and Warren as college players, but I worry about whether their athletic abilities will allow them to succeed on the next level. Much as it pains me to say it (I am a UNC fan), to me you pick Hood if he falls to you. He can shoot and has height, length and agility. Plus he played in a system that stresses man-to-man D and its fundamentals, so he's likely to fit-in right away.

All of that said, if Gary Harris miraculously falls, you grab him immediately. I'd also consider Hairston and WCS from the "reach" list (again, that list is very fluid these days) depending on how things shake out.

Id rather get the 3 seed and enjoy the raps nets series while we beat the wiz in a hopefully short series. The heat aren't exactly on fire either.

Yeah but the heat are back to back defending champs. Jordan's 3 peat teams had a similar down season for both their 3 peat attempts then won the title.

Oh well. If we did play the heat we know it would at the very least be entertaining.

We have a better chance of beating Indy than Miami, but hot damn would it be sweet if we could somehow beat Miami. We'd have to beat them eventually anyway, so whether it would be in round 2 or 3 would only be a difference of how many games it took to get there (captain obvious).

For me it's a matter of me knowing the Bulls aren't going to win the title so I want them to get as far as they can possibly get which to me is the ECF. We had a lottery ticket with being set up to play Washington and Indiana instead of Brooklyn and Miami. Now they are split up and the road is tougher.

So we probably get the Nets again in round 1. two very different squads this year. The nets are gonna be very, very tough. Would be great for Noah and Kirk to get a series win against Pierce/Garnett. Was Thibs on the celtics during that series or not there yet?

Regardless, as far as matchups go, going up against brooklyn, potentially winning and playing the pacers, and potentially winning that series and getting the heat would just be awesome. Its gonna be a coinflip against the nets but still i think this bulls team is significantly better than last years team and we played well in the playoffs.

The nba playoff are great. The western conference has 4 great series, which basically starts tomorrow because of the memphis-dallas-suns games. Id like to see memphis win out and get the 7 seed and dallas get the 8. that would be:

SA - Dallas

OKC - Memphis

LAC - GSW

HOU - POR

All four are basically dream scenarios for fans and the subsequent rounds get even better. I think Ill pick LAC - HOU in the WCF and Bulls - Heat in the ECF. LAC - Heat in the finals. Unless rose comes back on wednesday.

Let's not do this again.

Thibs was there. He was already a prized coaching candidate when the Bulls passed him up and hired Vinny

Can't wait to see Por/Hou.

if Wade is not 100%, I can't see anyone beating SA, OKC, or LAC out of the East. Hibbert has done a great disappearing act.

Meh

Come on just one more time? Who knows how many months it'll be before we get to do it next?

Yep, I wanted the Celtics to dump Rivers and promote Thibs

First year when the Knicks, Lakers and Celtics were all out of the playoffs since.....ever?

Yep, it's only the 6th time the Lakers have missed. It's only the 2nd time the Celtics and Lakers alone have missed.

Apparently the Bulls tried to get Kurt Thomas to come out of retirement for the playoff run.

Interesting. They signed Greg Smith instead

Which is great because this guy can actually help us if we move one of taj or booz and even the departure of Nazr. Looks like the rockets invested a lot into him and they are a pretty smart franchise.

As a diehard UNC guy myself, I'd absolutely love for the Bulls to take PJ. I think he's a legit scorer at the next level. Has ridiculous range and is strong as hell. I honestly think he'd be a better fit than Hood.

On the other hand, I pray McAdoo isn't on the radar. 3 seasons of his [expletive] is more than enough for anyone to endure.

I dont know much about any of the incoming rookies but I want a big guard who can shoot. I want jimmy buckets to become expendable and to potentially replace him with a better shooter.
