"I think I bulked up a little bit more," Gibson said after Sunday's first practice. "Being in the playoffs the last couple years, it gets more and more physical. I put on a ton of weight. Mostly I went out (to California) and just lifted, worked out with Derrick (Rose). I'm 240 (pounds) now. Just trying to build confidence -- it's coming. I know the plays, I know the offense, I know players' strong suits. Once you get confidence in this league, you can take off. It's all about confidence."

Aside from the added bulk, Gibson has been working on a 3-point shot that he wants to add to his repertoire this season.

"The coaches want me to do it," Gibson said. "Even Derrick (Rose) wanted me to shoot it. It's all about confidence. The one thing I notice is when you bulk up things tend to get a little easier but I haven't shied away from it. Right now I'm just focused on what things I can do to help the team and how to find my niche here and there."

Why do you care about Boozers contract. It's not hindering the Bulls.

And they can amnesty it if it starts to.

Because I hate watching him play. I don't want him on the team I root for.

You know he's really good right?

i've really come around on boozer. his defense has gotten better each year and as a fan i love that he's always into the game.

Every time I see Carlos toss up that moon ball jump shot, I think there isn't a prayer of that thing dropping through the net, but he disproves my doubt time and again. Not sure I can really ever gain confidence that he'll make that shot, but I can live with that.

He's pretty darn good.

Well statistically Boozer took a sizable step back last year. If he repeats this past season or regresses further he's not much of an asset, especially with his contract. Historically he's been better though, we'll have to see if last year's regression is more his career arc or because of the lack of scoring options(read: Rose) around him.

I'm not excited in the OMG I CANT WAIT FOR BASKETBALL way that I get for the NFL and MLB (probably because the Bears are relevant and the Cubs have a lot going on right now), but I'm pretty excited about this team this year.

If Rose is Rose, or somehow better, this team is looking pretty fun.

Preseason basketball is the worst, but I'm looking forward to the game on Sat just to see Rose on the court.

I'd like Boozer better if he actually dunked once in a while. He's one of the weakest PF's I've ever seen going to the rim

He's not very athletic, that's his one weakness. He's still really damn good though.

I almost want Boozer off the team because I am so tired of defending his worth to my meatball friends. It's almost as annoying as arguing with them about the Cubs future/Theo & company. I need better friends.

Totally irrelevant.

Boozer is definitely an asset and we'd be worse off without him with no means to replace him.

Isn't boozer like 13 percent of their cap? That's significant if you're not getting that-much-above-average production out of it.

I have no idea, but the Bulls aren't in salary cap mode. You cut Boozer's salary and your incremental gain is at best the MMLE to the MLE which is like $3M and possibly a little extra trade flexibility (would need to check exact figures). I forget exactly with the new CBA but maybe the BAE too, but that's only every two years anyways, can't be combined with MLE, and honestly might even still be available when over the apron - I'd have to check.

The NBA is not the NFL, MLB, or NHL in regards to salaries.
