My bad.

I didn't know better so I just thought he randomly turned into Dillon Maples.

Either we've made a trade or we gave Trevor Gretzky to the Angels, as he's being wished luck with his new team.

Why would they give him away? Seems like if it's true it would be part of a larger deal.

Looks like he was traded for Matt Scioscia (son of Mike) ensuring it was a trade of little to no consequence.

Break down of rosters in minor league camp: http://www.thecubreporter.com/03202014/updated-cubs-2014-minor-league-camp-rosters-320#more

Remember, there is no extended spring training roster yet. Looks like Jefferson Mejia is healthy enough to pitch already following the offseason car crash.

It's not worth getting caught up about a guy being a level higher than you thought but guys who are lower than you expected are interesting: Ben Wells is with Daytona and Jose Arias and Juan Paniagua are with Kane County (they seemed like candidates to start at Daytona given the logjam at KC).

Aren't camp rosters subject to plenty of change though?

Nice catch on Mejia.

Bruno not listed as non-participating.

Don't seem like any of the interesting arms that are listing as unexpectedly hurt.

Rotation wildcard may be what they do with Vizcaino, Rivero, and Rondon. Might one or more be taking rotation starts at AA or Daytona? Otherwise, doesn't really look like Iowa has guys who will bump down and take AA rotation spots.

Nice point on Arias/Paniagua at Kane, while Zastryzny/Skulina are with Daytona for now, and Wells. Yeah, assuming Z and Skulina go down, that really will be log-jam to the max at Kane.

Jose Paulino not included with the Kane group. Was he in the car accident?

Edwards one of most electric arms in minors. Scouts outside org not as high on Soler as once were. @Crewsett: Edwards over Soler?

Depressing about Soler. Would hate that we missed out on Cespedes and Puig and threw our eggs into Soler (and Conception) basket only for him to disappoint.

I wouldn't worry about the Soler hand-wringing in a season he played baseball for the first time in two years.

Yes, but rarely do players move up. Just down.

Didn't he play in 2012? My concern about Soler is largely about the fact that he is already 22 and has played less than a season's worth of professional baseball (over 2 years) and missed a bunch of time and already has "I can retire on this and never think about caring for my children or my children's children" money. When you consider the normal failure rate of prospects and then add in the setbacks along the way already for Soler, it's a big uphill battle.

If Soler can't hit, I doubt it will be because he had a break in his career. And if he really had the God-given talent to hit before the interruption, I doubt the interruption will make that ability ineffectual.

Hitting is hard. We'll see how it plays out this year.

We aren't talking about a black/white situation. It's marginal setbacks that can incrementally harm a player's ultimate productivity.

Yeah. Scouts don't like him because he doesn't run out ground balls (he was told not to) and because he's a "bad teammate."

f you guys, Soler is still my 2nd favorite prospect

I know I'm gonna be called crazy, but a part of me likes him more than Bryant because I am still seriously worried about his ability to make contact. I have no such concerns with Soler.

Yeah, I don't get all the hang-wringing over Soler. In his time in the FSL, an extreme pitcher's league, he put up .281/.343/.467. His first real season of baseball in quite awhile. From all indications he's going to start in AA, so the brass aren't concerned either.

It's not really hand wringing as much as just the guy I'm least comfortable with.
