Watched the game. The fouls really sucked the air out of the gameplay.

Wiggins needs to be more aggressive, and I'd like to see him handle it more vs attempting to post up. Still, it was a very efficient game for him.

Parker was very impressive.

CAN I PLEASE VOICE MY DISPLEASURE AT LETTING 4 SCHOOLS THAT HAVE NO [expletive] CONNECTION TO CHICAGO WALTZ RIGHT IN AND PLAY?

i wanna see some smoke bombs in the crowd

It's called the CHAMPIONS Classic. Unless you want some Loyola Ramblers action, no one from the State of Illinois belongs in this field.

Huge night tonight.

#1 Kentucky vs #2 MSU

#4 Duke vs #5 Kansas

#11 Florida vs #20 Bucky

#14 VCU vs #25 Virginia

Um, you left out the IU-LIU game. :P

Haha, didn't Crean say it would be a 'good test'?

Oh, I have no doubt he did.

Strange to have free tickets to an IU game and wish it was on another night. Oh well, should be able to catch some/most of the better games after IU's "good test."

Crean knows all?

Hey old ass hoosier fans in the front row, it's not the refs fault you're gonna lose to Brooklyn.

/yogi ferrell is a punk whiner

Horribly officiated game. They got a last possession when a guy travelled into a tie up and got a timeout called from the sideline. One-sided on the handchecking and charge/block calls.

Indiana fans whining about foul calling crack me up.

So even you're going to troll IU fans now too? Great. Well then, on that note, Illinois fans whining about someone else's whining cracks me up.

The officiating hurt IU more last night. Not because it was biased in favor of LIU-Brooklyn, but because, at least for now, an equal application of the new rule-enforcement emphasis will often hurt the more aggressive/physical team. That was especially so considering LIU-Brooklyn played zone (smartly). Big Ten games are going to be very interesting (read: long) if the game continues to be called in this fashion. It very well may end with a more open game and be worth it, but the adjustment period could be ugly.

As to the game, I feel bad for LIU-Brooklyn. They outplayed IU and deserved to win. They had a great gameplan but IU just managed to hit enough shots at the end.

If you seriously think TV Ted Valentine and Ed Hightower will be told how to officiate a game by the NCAA, I think you're sorely mistaken. I have no doubt the B10 season will be as physical as always and it will bite them in the ass in the tournament as usual.

As of today the entire Big Ten is in the top 80 of the Pomeroy ratings, thanks to Nebraska looking better than advertised, even against two patsies.

I agree (I did, you know, say "if"). My guess is that this will not consistently last across the nation, especially in the Big Ten. But that will make for an even worse situation because officiating will be even less uniform.

I felt like the touch calls were being called in the open court but they were letting them play on the inside. Which is biased towards the team with 4 players starting taller than the entire opponent's starting lineup. Oh and travels and tie ups were called lopsidedly.

But it shouldn't have mattered because IU should have been able to still win by 15 despite that.

lol, it's not that the refereeing was biased, it's that the new rules don't let our grab everyone's jersey defense work anymore. Poor Indiana.

This was one of your poorer attempts at trolling.

This is a pretty simple equation: officiating games to alleviate some of the physicality will impact different teams differently. Amazing! Specifically, it is likely to hamper the bigger/more physical team more. Sometimes that will hurt IU, sometimes it will help them. In two (home) games, IU has already been on both sides of that equation: taking twenty-eight more foul shots than Chicago State but ten less than LIU-Brooklyn. So it goes.

The new emphasis is a desirable goal; and, to whatever extent IU defends by grabbing jerseys (Crean's teams defend?), that is, and hopefully will be, a foul. The game does not benefit from jersey-grabbing.

So do we, well I doubt there are actual trophies, but we got one of those fake titles also.

Purdue looked a little different with AJ Hammons and his 7 blocks last night. He's already in 10th place on Purdue's all time blocks list 1 game into his Sophomore season.

Welp, the guys at 24/7 are starting to flip their crystal balls back to KU for Cliff. All while the rumors we're losing Quentin Snider back to Louisville swirl.

Fml and only my teams.

Posted
yup. we're not getting cliff. and the snider situation isn't looking good either. and hey, leron black hasn't sent in his LOI yet either. can't wait to have a 2014 class of michael [expletive] finke and nothing.

Black is signing, no doubt. Snider is gone, Cliff is gone. Insiders seem to think something big happened. Like a dump truck full of money or some sort of magicians curse.

Anyway, we're screwed again. Happy for you snood, but you gotta feel bad for all of us.

Yikes, I am betting John Groce is pretty happy with Snider right now. He spent his whole birthday on a visit with him and then Quentin waits until the eve of signing day to do this. Had he said something earlier Groce could have pursued the Lyle and Alexander package. guess this is why you have to recruit over the numbers you have these days.

Davis had 14 points, 7 rebounds, a steal, 2 blocks, and 2 assists in 15 minutes of play. Nice bounce back after his 1-7 night. Extremely happy with Stephens' outside shooting so far too. I'm hoping he can keep that up. The free throw shooting was back in the 60% area, but pretty happy with the result. I'm hoping the freshman can get up to speed by the time the conference schedule starts.

Was this as out of the blue as it seems? Granted, the only real Illini recruiting info I see much of is what you guys post in here, so maybe I'm just out of the loop.

The snider thing was a raw deal. Still not convinced your not getting big cliff.

You got him, it is breaking everywhere. Another star leaves the state. The hell with college basketball.

Yep. Snider originally committed to Louisville then decommitted 6 months or so ago because he was being recruited over. (Jaquan Lyle verbaled, then decommitted shortly after this) Pitino supposedly doesn't re-recruit decommits. Nothing in terms of smoke until Snider's LOI didn't come in on Wednesday. Staff believed he was still on board until after he signed with Louisville. It's garbage
