Are we waiting on this or not?

If you want to describe it as a corner, whatever. I'm very comfortable standing by what I've said on the matter.

Trestman won't be the one we'll be counting on to "reform" the offensive line. Emery is.

and you're denying the input that trestman will have into personnel decisions, that's an indefensible corner.

Good thought on twitter, wondering if Marinelli is wavering on the off chance that Lovie gets a HC job somewhere, so he can follow him.

Wasn't he reluctant to become the DC in the first place? I could even see him becoming a D-line coach if Lovie becomes a DC.

you give him a raise and sell him on his role as the dick lebeau of the bears.

Yeah dude, no one is saying Emery won't have the final say on who to sign or trade for -- but your statements around Trestman not having a lot of input into those decisions don't make a lot of sense.

It's almost refreshing that Trestman isn't a players coach after Lovie

Garrett Wolfe characterized him as a players coach this morning. And I was glad to hear that.

I'm not denying that he'll have input. I never denied that he'll have input.

he'll have significant input, just like lovie had input in the selection of tommie harris and tank johnson and the acquisition of ogunleye in forming his d-line. trestman will get the same.

I agree with this.

He'll be the last man standing of the old regime, which means he'll be the fall guy if the defense takes any kind of step backwards. I hope he stays, but I still consider it a longshot.

people will understand if the defense takes a step back. but with all the talk about personnel fitting the scheme, i think emery will do all he can to retain marinelli if trestman wants him. marinelli's mentor monte kiffin weathered several regimes in tampa.

So we hired an HC and OC who collectively haven’t called an offensive play in the NFL since 2002 (im not sure if Bill Callahan wasn’t the playcaller for OAK so we might have to go back to the ‘96 niners). Hes good with quarterbacks? Our most meaningful player feedback is coming from guys who appear in techmo superbowl.

He's under contract to likely make more as a DC than as a D-Line coach under Lovie somewhere else. However, Rod can't be liking the future successes of the defense for the Bears. It's an aging group and the new regime is probably going to be drafting pretty heavy on the offensive side of the ball.

I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to go somewhere else.

it's a risky hire, to be sure. but at least it's not an uninformed hire or a hire based on glitz and emotion.

if we don't release him from his contract can he even coach in the NFL next year?

Is that a shot at the Eagles?

But this just isnt true. He was the OC for both the 49ers and Raiders transition from Glory to Joke and then OC'd a horrendous NC State team. Who knows whats been going on in the CFL, the only CFL I have ever seen is when they show it during beer or tv commercials because they cant get NFL rights.

he had success in SF and Oakland and won a bowl game at NC St., for which he wasn't there long enough to bring in his own players to run his offense. he's won two grey cups in montreal. i'd consider that success.

His worst season at San Fran, they finished 12-4. His tenure at the Raiders included their only Super Bowl appearance in the past 30 years and their only MVP of the past 25 years. Even the most hate filled meatball would have to admit that counts as successful.
