The royals need to move moose, he is vastly overrated IMO.

I could see making the argument that Moose should be moved soon if you think he'll be exposed and the Royals could get something big for him right now. I don't see the argument that they NEED to move him though. His first full year wasn't too bad, and he should get better.

He did have a 3.5 fWAR, looked very impressive defensively, and is making the league minimum. Yeah, he's a good piece to use for a TOR guy, but don't think there is anything wrong with the Royals also deciding to hold onto him.

I think just that. He's going to be exposed IMO. Thus they need to move him now to get a tor arm. If he posts another year like last year it'll be harder to do that.

Someone please sell me on Chisenhall

Top 25 prospect as recently as 2011. 24 years old all of next year and less than a year of service time. Already shown an ability to hit MLB pitching, and scouting reports on his defense are much better than the early statistical returns. With average defense he's already playing at a league average level at age 23, with obvious room to grow.

Fun speculation from Bleacher Nation

On Saturday, during his usual radio show, Bruce Levine winked at a possible “big trade on the horizon” involving a swap of “young players.” (h/t to the CCO for the summary.) That, of course, is all kinds of vague. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t imbued with meaning – Bruce is connected, and, notably, cannot put into print everything that he hears.

So what might the move be? Well, given the roster deadline tomorrow (and the ever-shrinking 40-man space with today’s Shawn Camp re-signing, which put the 40-man at 39), you can expect that the “young players” involved on the Cubs’ side are guys on the 40-man. That means guys like Matt Szczur, Junior Lake, Josh Vitters, and others. If it’s a true young-guys-for-young-guys swap, you could see a couple of those types moved out for younger, non-40-man-spot-requiring prospects. Or, it could be a consolidation-type move, where the Cubs deal several of those young 40-man pieces for just one or two. Bruce has repeatedly mentioned the Cubs’ interest in Indians third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall, and the Indians’ return interest in a number of young Cubs players.

Also, Chisenhall is left handed... which plays up at Wrigley and we know a goal of the FO has been to take as much advantage of that as we can.

That could be this year's version of the Rizzo acquisition.

I know he was hot garbage last year, but think there's a chance we would try to take Ubaldo's contract off their hands and give up less in the process in a possible deal?

According to ABTY7 at the PSD boards, the Cubs did discuss Chisenhall and Ubaldo with the Indians shortly at the GM meetings.

He could be traded to us, but the Indians did pick up his option, so they must not view his value as negative.

He didn't say anything about the Iowa Cubs young players, or Daytona Cubs young players, or Arizona Cubs either.

Even setting that aside (there were a few places discussing that rumor), it's odd because the source of the rumor was Bruce, himself. Maybe folks mis-heard him or misinterpreted his comments or things changed in the last two days. Who knows.

It was also odd because, I mean, like ... obviously the Cubs are "in discussions" to move "some" of their young players. They are constantly having those type of discussions. They may not reach "serious" levels, but, yeah, they're definitely having conversations - especially in the days leading up to tomorrow's roster deadline. It doesn't mean anything happens, but they wouldn't be doing their job not to be having discussions, particularly today and tomorrow.

The guy was evidently talking out of his ass, offered an opinion, wasn't clear on whether he knew something or it was an opinion. Tweeting the retraction SHOULD be an embarassment to him, for starting something in the first place. Brett and anyone else writing about it is what they're supposed to do.

I say we give Gary Scott another chance at 3B. He's gotta be ready by now.

Kevin Orie is probably still alive and kicking somewhere.

Eric Chavez as a platoon/fill in guy/insurance/back up?

Would love, love, love to see that.

As a fifty year old guy, I'm done with old marginal crap.
