Random thoughts on increasing speed while still being reasonable, and other thoughts.... Not suggesting to implement all of these, but just throwing thoughts out there-

Treat picks like the actual draft. If someone misses their deadline, we don't pick for him, but the draft goes on. If after about 4 picks still no pick is submitted then we can pick. 3-5 picks a day would be a pretty fair pace and if you can't check every 48 hours or so to get a general idea when to show up, don't sign up or understand the draft will keep moving. Honestly in many instances you'd probably still get your guy.

Going along with the 48 hour idea, post a schedule every 2 days at some pre-determined time. The times posted on the schedule would be the last possible chance you can pick, meaning If we exceed the pace you wouldn't reset the clock. If you're pretty sure you won't be around when you're pick is up send your big board to someone as close as you can get. Sched could be variable to account for high traffic daysh/hours.

Create a system of pairings to utilize consensus picks, even if it means doubling up. You could still have one main person who is the head and tie breaker vote, but if they aren't around the rest of the group could submit the pick.

You could have groupings at random or forced pairings. For instance if you sign up for the #1 NFC North team you also get NS3, AW2, and AE4. Likewise the guy who signs up for AE4 gets that same group. Or just encourage posters to join 3-4 teams if they desire.

Make the Bears picks 100% consensus. A majority here are Bears fans and may like to have the say in the form of a poll.

Ask people to post every 48 hours to affirm their activity. A simple acknowledgement you are actively checking. If you don't post the board picks for you.

Random thoughts ...

I don't see the need to put that much thought into it. There's hasn't been a problem in the past. There is plenty of time to get a multi-round draft done and then at least another new 1-2 rounder leading up to the actual draft.

Northern Iowa wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield ran such a fast 40-yard dash time Monday at Minnesota's Pro Day that he was asked to run it again.

Sinkfield's second attempt was clocked at 4.19 seconds, 0.05 faster than Chris Johnson's NFL Scouting Combine record of 4.24 seconds in 2008, according to Fox Sports North. Sinkfield ran a 4.27 in his first attempt. He stumbled in his third attempt yet still finished it in 4.41 seconds.
