Interesting write-up, good stuff. Also noticed you used the word we or we've a dozen times when writing up the Steelers draft info and zero with the Bears. Didn't realize you had crossed that far over to the dark side.

That's not me. A friend of mine does the Steelers specific stuff.

Yeah, I get the impression Eifert has quite a bit of helium and won't last till 20. Fine by me, while I like the idea of a strong 2 TE set, there are other positions that I'd prefer be addressed first.

At this point I really don't have much of a preference as to who we take in the first round. We have so many needs, as long as it isn't a big reach and it's BPA I'm fine with that. With an offensive head coach, I do wonder if we'd be spending the first rounder on an offensive player.

I'm about 90% sure the Bears trade down. That makes it tough to mock. I also think the Bears alternate O And D with their first 3 picks. I'm intrigued by the thought of a TE followed by LB or DT then followed with a WR. Gives the potential of a great aerial attack in 2TE or 4 wr sets. That being said, I think the TE interest is a smokescreen. I don't see why Evan Rodriguez can't be that #2. Bears have hinted at getting a true FB and moVing ERod to TE.

It will be interesting to see who accomplishes trading down, at the moment, almost everyone seems to want to trade down except the 49ers.

One thing to remember is that a 1st rounder gets 5 years guaranteed, while second round means only 4 years. With a QB that may not start right away, u definitely want that extra year. So I think teams will trade back into the 1st. But I don't think they are giving up future 1s to do so.

Yeah, not that the trade value chart is current, but I figure if the Bears trade back, it'll be for less value than what the charts say. Personally, I think we may trade back twice.

Assuming no one pulls a Tannehill/Ponder and goes for their guy a little early, I could see once the first QB gets drafted, there will be a frenzy to trade back into the 1st.

You know that “gentleman’s agreement” between ESPN and the NFL Network to have their reporters be selective about tweeting during NFL draft? Well, it doesn’t apply to Jason La Canfora.

 

After last year’s NFL draft, La Canfora left the NFL Network to become the NFL insider for CBS. As a result, any Twitter restrictions during the draft don’t apply to him; CBS isn’t providing live TV coverage of the draft.

 

So it’s open season for La Canfora. He intends to tweet as much as possible. Beware: that includes upcoming picks before they are revealed on TV (if he gets them) to his nearly 300,000 followers. He also will be contributing updates to CBSSports.com.

Kiper has the Bears with Te'o in the first. McShay has us with Ogletree.
